It was a lovely place with fantastic food. The staff and owner were very accommodating, and the location was very near to the hotel walking distance, which made a pleasant visit back from a long journey back to Rhodes or Rodos (local name) from Turkey as due to the time of year a lot of restaurants and shops close. The Chicken Samosas were lovely and the Chicken Madras and rice I enjoyed. This is a nice Punjabi restaurant, and I am glad this one was open, and I hope it remains open for both locals and tourists 🙏.
Came here for dinner, we started with a portion of poppadoms which was 2 for €3, probably the best poppadoms I’ve ever had, this came with a pickle tray. I had the chicken korma with Peshwari Naan and my boyfriend had the chicken tikka masala and a garlic naan. The korma was a lot creamier than I am used to in the uk and probably should have ordered the butter chicken instead. The masala was nice. The naans were very crispy and more like pizza slices but were nice and different. For all this plus a portion to share between us, it cost us €43 ish. Friendly and fast service.
I am from northern India and a Punjabi but I live in England. I am on a visit to Rhodes as a tourist. I visited the Sartaj today for a meal with my family and we were blown away with the authenticity. Awesome! I was not even expecting an Indian restaurant in Rhodes. This is a rare gem. They know the difference between 'naan' and 'naan bread'. UK restaurants don't seem to know that. Rightly pointed out by another reviewer that our UK Indian restaurants are mostly not real Indian restaurants being mainly Bangladeshi and Pakistani restaurant which may be good but are not the real taste of India, unfortunately. The restaurant was very busy but still the service was fast and excellent without compromising the quality. Hardeep who served us was very pleasant and looked after us really well. Restaurant was very clean too. Highly recommended!
So glad we found this place. Best food we ate our whole holiday.I had the Saag, Jalfrezi (Has a kick), and butter chicken, and they were all excellent. All starters were great, too, especially the mixed tandoori. My wife and daughter said the Korma and Passander were really good as well.Seemed like it was run by a small family who were all very attentive and friendly.Price wise, we got 3 starters and mains, drinks, including a bottle of wine, water, and soft drinks for just under €90. Well worth it.
Sartaj Indian Restaurant is a true delight! From the delectable samosas to the mouthwatering cheese naan, biryani, and chicken tikka masala – every bite was a flavor explosion. The Indian beer was a perfect match. The service was top-notch, with a friendly and attentive staff. A must-visit gem for authentic Indian cuisine
