Perched dramatically on a cliff edge in Kamiros Skala, Amythita on Rhodes Island is more than just a restaurant; it's a truly memorable destination. Named after the Greek word for "indescribable," this family-owned and run establishment lives up to its name, offering a harmonious blend of breathtaking views, exceptional food, and heartwarming hospitality.

Spectacular Views and Ambiance 🌊

The most striking feature of Amythita is undoubtedly its unparalleled location. Guests are seated on the very edge of the cliff, enjoying panoramic views of the sparkling Aegean Sea. This peaceful setting is especially magical at sunset, creating an unforgettable backdrop for your meal. The restaurant embraces a beautiful white and blue theme, enhancing the tranquil, authentic Greek island vibe. One unique observation from guests is the ability to look down and see the very spot where the fresh seafood on your plate was likely caught, emphasizing the restaurant's commitment to freshness.

A Culinary Journey for the Senses 🍽️

Amythita prides itself on serving delicious, high-quality food, crafted with love and fresh ingredients. Reviewers consistently praise the culinary offerings:

  1. Fresh Seafood: Described as "amazing," the seafood is a highlight, underscoring the restaurant's connection to the local waters.
  2. Signature Dishes:
    • The day's special lamb, slow-cooked overnight in olive oil, white wine, and rosemary, has been hailed as "the best lamb ever tasted."
    • The moussaka is a must-try, celebrated for its "insane" flavor, rich taste, and melt-in-your-mouth texture.
  3. Salads and Smoothies: Even lighter options like the Greek Salad and Beetroot Salad receive high praise for their quality. Smoothies are noted for being "amazing" and made with "absolutely the freshest ingredients."
  4. Complimentary Delights: Guests often receive a thoughtful gesture like a complimentary watermelon dessert, adding to the delightful experience.

While one reviewer noted that portions could be "a bit small," the overwhelming sentiment is that the food is exceptionally tasty and offers a fantastic culinary experience, justifying the fair prices.

Warm Hospitality and Fair Value ✨

For the past 15 years, Amythita has been run by a welcoming and friendly family, and their dedication shines through in every aspect of the dining experience. Reviewers consistently highlight the staff as being "very welcoming," "helpful," and "friendly." The service is generally excellent, though minor delays might occur during peak times due to the popularity of the place. Prices are considered "very fair for the quality of the food and the nice service," and generally "average," offering great value for such a unique setting and high-quality cuisine.

A Hidden Gem: The Beach Below 🏖️

A fascinating tip from returning guests reveals a delightful secret: below the tavern lies a small, free, and clean beach. This serene spot is accessible directly through the restaurant, and the owners actively maintain its cleanliness. Guests are encouraged to show their gratitude by enjoying a meal or drink at the tavern if they utilize this lovely amenity.

Final Recommendation

Amythita comes highly recommended as a special place to dine and a must-stop if you're driving by. Whether you're seeking fresh seafood, traditional Greek dishes cooked with love, or simply a peaceful spot with unparalleled views, Amythita promises an "indescribable" experience that will leave you eager to return.

Very welcoming family-owned restaurant. The fresh seafood was amazing! You’re seated on the edge of the cliff with great views of the ocean. It’s very peaceful. Looking down, you can see the spot where they go fishing. The prices were very fair for the quality of the food and the nice service.

Very pleasant family tavern. We have been here several times. A picturesque sea view and very tasty food. Everything here is made with love by the people who run this tavern. You will definitely enjoy this place.A small hint: below the tavern there is a small beach. It is completely free and you can walk through the tavern to descend to this lovely beach. Owners of the tavern care about this beach and keep it clean. Don't forget to buy something in the tavern to express your gratitude for their efforts.

One of the most beautiful restaurants we have ever been to! Amazing views of the sea from a cliff and beautiful theme in white and blue. The food was as amazing as it can get! We were recommended to try the day's special lamb which was cooked overnight in olive oil white wine and rosemary. It was the best lamb I have ever tasted. The moussaka was insane! Melting in the mouth with such a rich taste and full of flavors. The smoothies were also amazing and made with absolutely the freshest ingredients! We had one of the best culinary experiences!Ametheta, which means indescribable (something that needs to be experienced and cannot be put in words) is a family owned and run restaurant for the last 15 years. The whole family was so welcoming and friendly! We even got a watermelon 🍉 desert on the house! We highly recommend this place and I'm sure you will not be disappointed!
