Angora Restaurant & Motel & Camping, while mistakenly identified as being on Greece's Rhodes Island, is actually located at Limanbaşı Mevkii No: 58 Hisarönü Mahallesi, Hisarönü, 48700 Marmaris/Muğla, Türkiye. This establishment combines a campground, motel, and restaurant, offering a unique, albeit varied, experience for travelers seeking a natural escape.

Reviews for Angora present a stark contrast, highlighting both its potential for a peaceful holiday and significant areas needing improvement, particularly concerning accommodation cleanliness and service consistency.

Accommodation: Camping vs. Motel 🏕️

For those opting for the camping experience, Angora receives high praise. Campers describe it as a "very calm place" with "good, clean and comfortable" facilities. One reviewer enjoyed their stay so much they extended a planned one-night trip to three nights. The camping area is noted for having "almost no people," contributing to a tranquil atmosphere.

However, the motel rooms tell a different story. One detailed review explicitly states that a room was in a "terrible state," "not clean," and "full of dust mites," leading to severe insect bites. This suggests a significant disparity in cleanliness and maintenance between the camping grounds and the indoor lodging facilities.

Dining Experience 🍽️

The on-site restaurant has also received mixed feedback. Early reviews noted it as "rustic" and in need of work but praised the "fabulous meal" and "superb setting with a spectacular sunset." This suggests a strong potential for scenic dining.

A more recent review, however, found the food "average" and "quite expensive." Dishes like chicken, kofte, and Turkish-style manti were mentioned, with manti notably served with crisps instead of proper chips. Despite this, the salad served at the restaurant was described as "really lovely."

Location and Ambiance 🏞️

Angora is situated in a "beautiful area" right by the sea, offering a "fantastic view." However, there's a notable discrepancy in perceptions of the beach. While some promotional photos might depict golden sand and blue sea, one visitor encountered "black sand" and a sea that "looked like the river Thames," suggesting that visitors should manage their expectations regarding the immediate beach conditions.

The overall ambiance, especially for campers, is described as calm and natural, making it suitable for those looking to "escape to a calm and natural holiday."

Service & Management 🤝

A recurring theme in positive reviews is the exceptional warmth of the owners. They are frequently described as "generous, sweet and so welcoming," making guests "feel like home" and being "super friendly." This personal touch is a significant draw for many visitors.

Despite this positive sentiment towards the owners' hospitality, there are serious concerns about their response to criticism. One reviewer noted that the owners "don't take criticism to kindly" and can be "passive aggressive." An instance was cited where an owner was initially aggressive about gas cooker use, despite prior permission from his wife, only to return smiling moments later. This suggests a need for more consistent and professional handling of guest feedback and adherence to established rules.

Key Takeaways for Potential Visitors

Based on aggregated reviews, here are some points to consider:

  1. Camping is generally well-regarded: If you plan to camp, expect a calm environment with good facilities.
  2. Motel rooms need significant improvement: Be aware that the motel rooms may suffer from cleanliness and maintenance issues.
  3. Owners are friendly but sensitive to criticism: While hospitable, addressing issues directly during your stay might be challenging.
  4. Manage beach expectations: The immediate beach might not match idyllic promotional images.
  5. Restaurant offers a scenic setting: The view is a highlight, though food quality and pricing are debated.

Angora Restaurant & Motel & Camping has the potential to be an outstanding destination, especially given its natural beauty and the owners' friendly demeanor. However, significant investment in maintaining and cleaning the lodging facilities, coupled with a more receptive approach to constructive criticism, would undoubtedly elevate the overall guest experience.

We chose this place because of the reviews, went through the reviews real quickly and didn't read all of them,I must say the people are very nice and kindHowever the owners need to spend some money on improvements, The room we stayed in was in a terrible state and was not clean and full of dust mites, we have been bitten very badly by insects in the room and had to search for a chemist the next day, it really does need a deep cleaning, they were such nice people We felt quite embarrassed to say something there and then so we persevered and got over the two days,The food was average, we had a chicken dish , a kofte dish and manti which is like a pasta dish Turkish style , which was served with crisps rather than proper chips but they make a really lovely salad, quite expensive considering what we had ,the place is situated in a beautiful area however one of the reviews had a photo taken a month ago which looks amazing with golden sand and blue sea, but when we got there the sand was black and the sea looked like the river Thames, maybe the photo was of somewhere else it was definitely not this place,They have quite a few staff there serving customers instead of grabbing hold of a broom and sweeping the place up and cleaning the rooms would be a much better work ethic, especially with the pandemic that we are going through the owners should take it upon themselves to sort it out or this place could become a hotbed of other diseases!! Like dysentery!!The owners could make this place amazingIf they want it to go to a different level but sometimes people just want to settle for what they already have. Looking forward to their reply12 hours later and were still scratching🚑😡Update after responseHey guys you don't take criticism to kindlyYou're right we were always polite ,we actually liked you as people, you are also right we didn't have a reservation, we shouldn't have to be made to tell you that the room was filthy you should already know this!! after reading several of your responses to other customers it's quite clear that you are in denial, instead of sending me a view once reply you should've left it on there so people could read your responseYou said that we were sitting outside all night you are also right about that it was better than sitting inside that room ,and the way you came over and told me in an aggressive manner that I wasn't allowed to use my gas cooker when clearly your wife said that I could use that part of the kitchen, there was no need to speak to us that way there are different ways to approach people to talk to them if there is a certain rule ,and 10 minutes later you came back smiling and asking if everything was alright, passive aggressive! On the very face of it you seem really friendly until someone makes a comment on the condition of your place and your service you are not so good!take some advice and clean your place up especially behind the bedsWe hope you enjoy the halloumi cheese we bought for you to try.

We only went to the restaurant and it's rustic and needs some work. The new owners will surely improve it.However, the meal was fabulous and the setting was superb with a spectacular sunset.
