The Avra Beach Resort Hotel, nestled in Ixia on Rhodes Island, consistently earns positive feedback as a solid choice for an all-inclusive holiday. Guests frequently highlight its prime beachfront location, extensive dining options, and attentive staff as key reasons for a pleasant stay. While some minor points regarding room modernity and drink strength were noted, the overall sentiment is one of satisfaction and a desire for return visits.
One of the hotel's strongest suits is its direct access to the beach, offering sunbeds for guests both by the pool and right on the shingle shoreline. While the beach is pebbly (footwear recommended), the water is described as quite warm and beautiful once you're in. Its proximity to both the airport and Rhodes Town (a 15-20 minute journey) is a significant advantage. The hotel further enhances convenience by operating a regular bus service to Rhodes Town for a nominal return fare of €6, making exploration easy. The immediate area outside the hotel is noted to be quite bustling, as expected.
Rooms at Avra Beach are consistently reported as clean and well-maintained, with daily cleaning and towel changes. While some guests found standard rooms to be a bit small or dated, there's good news on this front: older rooms are undergoing renovation and facelifts. Upgrading to a sea view or a modern room is highly recommended by guests, who describe them as having "amazing views" and a much more appealing aesthetic compared to older blocks. Despite any size remarks, the limited time typically spent in rooms during a beach holiday means this is generally not a major concern for most visitors.
The food experience at Avra Beach Resort is a definite highlight for many. Guests praise the great selection and plentiful quantity at each meal, noting that there's truly "something for everyone." The buffet style features a different food theme each night, ensuring variety. An alternative beach bar is also available for lunch, offering a more relaxed option. However, feedback on drinks was mixed: while readily available, some guests quietly complained that alcoholic beverages tasted "watered down and weak." Another point of note for all-inclusive guests is that certain premium items, such as a morning cappuccino, incur an extra charge, which some found surprising.
The service at Avra Beach receives high commendation. The majority of the staff are described as very good, pleasant, and helpful. Several guests specifically singled out the bar staff—Anastasia, George, Michael (one and two), and their supervisor Billy—for being "incredible," "very friendly," and having a "good grasp of English," ensuring that "nothing was too much trouble." This level of attentiveness significantly contributes to a positive guest experience.
Beyond the direct beach access, the hotel provides ample sunbeds around the pool area, which guests found easy to secure even in peak September. Daily entertainment, including various games and events, is offered during the day, with evening entertainment around the pool area described as "just okay" but adding "a bit of life to the place." For those seeking relaxation, the hotel's spa offers good massages, though some noted that music from the poolside could occasionally be heard in the treatment rooms. For families, the hotel also provides good activities and care for children.
Overall Verdict: Avra Beach Resort Hotel comes highly recommended as a spotless, well-located, and accommodating all-inclusive hotel. Its strengths in service, food variety, and beachfront position make it a strong contender for a relaxing holiday in Rhodes. Many guests, including repeat visitors, express a strong desire to return.
Great all inclusive hotel. Place was spotless. Food was good, and I always found something nice to eat. Losing one point for our room and drink. Room, although kept spotless, was a bit on the dated side, but I heard this was being rectified, and all the older rooms are getting a new face lift. Alcohol. This wasn't really a problem for me personally, but a lot of the guests were quietly complaining that their drinks tasted watered down and weak. Would I go back? I'm already looking at prices for next year, I really enjoyed my stay there and really looking forward to a return visit.
Service is very good and the majority of the staff are quite pleasant and helpful. There's a great selection of food at each mealtime and there's something for everyone. Food is buffet style so it's not piping hot but I had no problem with that. There's a different food theme each night. The hotel is located right on the beach and there's sunbeds both around the pool and on the beach for guests to use. We stayed in the middle of September and were always able to get a sunbed on the beach after breakfast. The beach is a pebble beach so you will need footwear, the water is quite warm. Rooms are cleaned daily and towels changed. There's entertainment around the pool area each night, which brings a bit of life to the place although it's just okay and there's various games and events throughout the day that you can join in with. The hotel runs a bus to and from Rhodes Town on a regular basis throughout the day for €6 return, which is a great service, it's approximately a 15 to 20 min journey. We used the spa at the hotel and found the massage to be quite good although the music from the poolside can be heard in the treatment rooms. We would stay here again and recommend it if you are thinking of visiting.
Rooms clean and tidy but small. Small thing every all inclusive hotel we've ever been to include my morning cappuccino however here you pay extra. Food nice but similar beach pebbles but once your in gorgeous. Service really goodHad some good acts for entertainment and look after kids. Outside hotel quite busy but to be expected. Winning point how close we are to sea Overall 7/10
Really decent week here. Right on beach front which always feels nicer than a landlocked hotel. I would definitely upgrade to sea view as the old block of rooms looked really depressing but we had a modern Room with amazing views. Very close to airport and Rhodes town so great location.
Last minute holiday so not much research undertaken. Pleasantly surprised on arrival. Location directly onto pebbly beach, holiday ideal for a relaxing holiday. Rooms bit smaller than expected but we were in a standard room. Not a lot of time spent in the room so not a problem. Amazing choice of food and plentiful, alternative beach bar available for food at lunchtime if full restaurant not required. Bar staff incredible, Anastasia,George, Michael one and two and their supervisor Billy. Nothing too much trouble, very friendly and good grasp of English. Would we go back ....yes we would
