Situated in the heart of Rhodes Town, the Blue Sky City Beach Hotel offers a blend of convenience and hospitality, making it a popular choice for visitors to this historic Greek island. Based on recent guest feedback, the hotel generally provides a pleasant stay, though certain aspects receive mixed reviews.
The hotel's location at Psaropoula Square is consistently praised as excellent, if not perfect. Guests appreciate its proximity to various attractions, with many points of interest nearby, including the Old Town (approximately 10 minutes on foot). Its central position also makes it well-connected for accessing the port and other parts of the island, whether by walking or public transport.
A recurring highlight in guest reviews is the hotel's staff. Many describe the team as super friendly, cheerful, and incredibly helpful. Special mentions include the diligent cleaners who are noted for daily room tidiness and respecting 'do not disturb' signs, as well as the welcoming front desk staff. The customer services manager also received praise for making time to interact with guests, fostering a warm and welcoming atmosphere. However, one review noted that staff in the hotel shop were less attentive, ignoring guests while engaging in personal conversations.
The rooms at Blue Sky City Beach Hotel are generally described as lovely. When balcony doors are closed, rooms are reported to be very quiet, effectively blocking out road noise. For the most enjoyable experience, particularly for stunning sunsets, guests strongly recommend booking a sea view room.
Unfortunately, rooms located at the rear of the hotel receive criticism for having poor views of poorly maintained residential buildings and appearing dated, with one guest speculating they haven't been redecorated since the 1980s. Regarding cleanliness, reviews are somewhat mixed. While some guests commend daily room cleaning and fresh towel replenishment, another reported that their floor was not cleaned once, bed sheets were not changed, and towels were occasionally not replaced or even removed without being replenished.
Feedback on the hotel's food offerings, particularly breakfast, is quite varied:
The layout of the breakfast area also drew a minor critique, with the coffee and toast machines creating a "choke point" due to their corner placement. For dinner, one guest enjoyed a meal they had, but another who opted for half board described the food as "tasteless, rubbery," and suspected it was made from leftovers. This guest also noted a ceiling leak in the restaurant. Due to these concerns, some guests chose to eat out after a couple of days.
Additionally, one guest reported a significant delay (over an hour) in receiving room service food, which was also found to be unsuitable for a sensitive stomach despite specific requests.
The hotel's pool area is considered nice, but some guests found the overall "guest areas" to be extremely limited. The pool itself can become full early in the morning. A notable point of contention for some is the pool's early closing time of 18:00, which was deemed "stupid" for an adult-focused hotel, as guests wished to swim later into the evening. The hotel also has a terrace, though it is described as "very easy to miss." Cocktails at the hotel bar were noted as expensive and lacking flavor by one reviewer.
Despite some inconsistencies, particularly concerning food quality and rear room views, the Blue Sky City Beach Hotel appears to leave many guests with positive memories, largely due to its exceptional staff and prime location. Those who experienced the sea view rooms and appreciated the hotel's hospitality often express a strong desire to return.
However, potential visitors should be aware of the mixed reviews on dining and the condition of non-sea view rooms. Guests on a tighter budget for food or those with dietary restrictions might consider dining outside the hotel. Overall, while some reviews suggest it might be closer to a 3-star experience rather than a 4-star, the hotel's strengths in service and location often outweigh its weaknesses for many travelers.

We have just returned from here and we have had the best time. The room was cleaned everyday, the cleaner was a lovely lady,The staff were so happy to help when needed, they were very cheerful, and the customer services manager was lovely, he made time to come and talk to you, I will definitely visit again and this will be our hotel.Breakfast was lovely with plenty of choice, the coffee and toast machine became a choke point as everyone wanting to use them were blocking the way as it was in the corner, just a thought the coffee machine could of been with the juices out of the way but this in no way reflects in our rating , I can't say much about dinner as we went out to eat , but I'm sure it would of been as lovely as breakfast, we ate in one night and loved the food we had , once again a lovely holiday was had, and we will be back one day xx
For us, one of the best views from all hotels were weโve been we had here, pleasant hotel, enjoyed our stay and hope to come back. Its very clean, maids gave us fresh towels every day too. Location is great, no, perfect, lots of stuff nearby or 10 min walk into the old town. Staff were super friendly and always willing to help you. A little downside was the food which wasnโt great, very very average. Breakfast selection is very simplistic. To enjoy full this hotel who need to book a sea view room.
Nice hotel and great location. Staff on front desk are lovely. Staff in the shop not so lovely, ignored us to have a conversation with each other while we were waiting to pay. Cleaners respect the do not disturb signs and are very friendly. Breakfast was not the best quite boring and bland. Pool area is nice. Rooms are lovely and if balcony doors are closed itโs very quiet and no road noise.
Maybe my expectations are too high because in my country hotels are better for cheaper, my biggest problem was the food. The options are very limited and mostly unhealthy, not much fruits and so much sugary stuff for the breakfast. They didn't even have vegan options for milk or yogurt (I couldn't eat dairy, because of illness), and I'd think nowadays a 4 star hotel should have them. Also, when I got sick and ordered food for sensitive stomach they said they'd bring plain rice and chicken but the chicken was definitely full of spices and oil, so not good for someone who's throwing up. It also took over an hour for me to get the food. The staff was otherwise friendly, especially when I got sick. The pool also closed at 18 which is so stupid in an all adult hotel, I really wanted to be swimming at 20 at least but no. The room was very nice but we paid a lot for this hotel so I don't know if it's THAT nice. I would never call this a 4 star hotel, 3 at most. Also the cocktails didn't taste much like anything, just expensive, definitely not worth it. Also the location is not visually pleasing at all, if we walk closer to the old town, it's nice there, but this location was just trashy honestly.I wouldn't recommend this place, wouldn't come again.
If you have a see view room, then it might be worth the stay (I understand the sunset from these rooms are beautiful). Unfortunately if you're room is at the rear of the hotel, then you probably would want to stay elsewhere. The rear view rooms have residential buildings in close proximity and are extremely poorly maintained. My guess is it hasn't been decorated since the 1980's. We had a 5th floor room which had a better view then the lower floors rear view rooms, and it was still poor (see rear view room picture).Cleanliness: The floor in my room was not cleaned once and the bed sheets were not changed. On more than one occasion, the maid did not replace the towels, and on one occasion the towel had been takenand not even replaced.Guest areas: The guess areas are extremely limited, with only the small pool area which is normally full early in the morning and a terrace which is very easy to miss.Food: We went half board: The food is tasteless, rubbery, and on some occasions it looked like breakfast was simply the leftovers from the main meal the night before. Be careful were you sit in the restaurant, if you don't want water to drip on you from the ceiling in the restaurant. We decided to eat out after day two. So you're better off not paying for the food options.Location: If you're happy with walking and taking public transport, then the hotel is quite well located. The port, city centre, and other parts of the island are all accessible.Would I recommend it or come here again. Having only experienced the rear room, no.
