Evita Bay Hotel, located at 12km Rodou, Faliraki 851 05, Greece, on the beautiful Rhodes Island, presents a mixed experience for its guests. Classified as a hotel, lodging, establishment, and point of interest, it aims to provide a pleasant stay, yet feedback suggests a spectrum of highs and lows.

Customer Service: A Tale of Two Experiences 🤝

A recurring theme in guest reviews highlights a stark contrast between the hotel's management and its general staff. The Manager is consistently praised as a very nice, caring, and helpful person who genuinely attends to guest concerns, such as room allocation or extended check-out times. Conversations with the manager are described as pleasant and accommodating.

However, the experience with other staff members appears to be less consistent. Some guests found the staff to be "lovely, brilliant, very helpful and friendly," contributing positively to their holiday. Conversely, other reviews describe staff treating guests "completely differently," sometimes "without respect," or with "different standards." A notable issue mentioned is the difficulty all-inclusive guests without wristbands face in being served, despite management clarifying that a room number should suffice. This suggests a disconnect in internal communication and policy enforcement. Furthermore, the hotel is frequently described as "understaffed," leading to staff working extremely hard but resulting in "poor service" due to insufficient numbers.

Comfort and Cleanliness 🛏️

The hotel generally receives positive remarks regarding its physical premises. Guests note that the hotel is clean and spacious. Rooms are cleaned daily, with fresh bedding and towels provided regularly. The beds are described as "super comfy." Some guests particularly enjoyed the "swim up room" option, though the pool was noted to be on the colder side.

Room specifics can vary; some ground floor rooms were found to be spacious but lacked adequate storage (e.g., only a single rail for clothes) and only offered two single beds. Guests requesting higher floor rooms, particularly from the helpful manager, were often accommodated with a more suitable setup. However, the overall "standard of facilities is good."

Culinary Offerings and Bar Service 🍽️🍹

The dining experience at Evita Bay Hotel garners mixed opinions. The food is generally considered "ok" with a "good selection," and the salads are frequently highlighted as "the best" with "great variety." Breakfast is also mentioned as good. However, a common critique is that the food "could have done with being hotter." The selection can sometimes be poor, and while guests "wouldn't starve," it might require effort to "make a meal up" on some days, especially for children, as it "did not cater for kids at all."

Service during meal times, particularly regarding drinks, is a point of contention. Guests reported struggling to get drinks with their food, sometimes only managing on a couple of occasions out of a longer stay. While soft drinks are often self-service, obtaining wines or beers requires staff assistance, which is challenging due to staffing levels. A suggestion for a "simple self service for basic wine and beer in the restaurant would be a massive improvement" and would significantly help the overworked staff.

The bar situation also faces challenges. Drinks are described as "a bit too syrupy" by some, although the local beer is noted as nice. A significant issue at the lobby bar is the frequent running out of glasses, leading to the use of plastic disposable cups, again attributed to only one person working behind the bar being unable to manage everything.

Atmosphere and Guest Demographics 🌍

Guests should be aware that the hotel has "no entertainment" on site. Furthermore, the guest demographic tends to lean heavily towards non-English speaking nationalities, with comments indicating it's "All good if you are German, Romanian or Polish," suggesting "few English guests."

Potential Relocation Warning: A Significant Concern ⚠️

Perhaps the most critical and alarming feedback revolves around the frequent practice of relocating guests to different hotels, sometimes at the last minute or even upon arrival. Multiple reviews describe instances where families were "transferred to a different one" or "being moved" to other hotels, with one guest observing this happening to several families for airport transfers. One lady was reportedly "very upset" over this. There is speculation among guests that the hotel "over books on purpose to send people to cheaper hotels to pocket the rest of the money." While some guests were "lucky that the hotel we stayed in was nice," others were "not so lucky." This significant issue is a major point of caution for potential visitors.

Final Thoughts and Recommendations ✅

Evita Bay Hotel offers a clean and spacious environment with comfortable rooms, and its manager is highly commended for their helpfulness and care. The location is convenient, being a short walk from Faliraki but far enough to avoid late-night noise. However, several aspects detract from the overall guest experience:

  1. Inconsistent Staff Service: A noticeable gap between management and staff performance, often linked to understaffing.
  2. Dining Limitations: While food selection is decent, temperature issues and challenges in getting drinks are noted.
  3. Lack of Entertainment: No on-site entertainment and a specific guest demographic.
  4. Relocation Risk: The significant and recurring issue of guests being moved to other hotels is a major concern that potential visitors should be fully aware of before booking.

Some guests, despite these issues, would "go back, but know what to expect," emphasizing the need for more staff and improvements in self-service options for drinks. For those considering Evita Bay Hotel, it's advisable to factor in these points, particularly the risk of relocation, when making a decision.

The Manager of the hotel ist a very nice person who really cares about his guest. Every conversation was always very pleasant. The staff treats you completely differently and sometimes without respect or with different standards. The values of the hotel are unfortunately not carried by the staff. As a guest, you sometimes don't know how to behave. For example, all inclusive guests get a wristband. However, if you do not get one, you are not served and sent away. According to management, you only have to give your room number, but the staff does not accept this.

The hotel is great, clean, spacious, good food, staff are lovely, the standard of facilities is good. The downside is, there are few English guests at the hotel and no entertainment either. All good if you are German, Romanian or Polish.Also-be aware you might get relocated. This happens often..

We was ment to stay at this hotel, but was transferred to a different one. At the same time they was sending two other families to different hotels. When we went back to meet our transfer to the airport, three other families was being moved!! One lady was very upset over this. I think this hotel over books on purpose to send people to cheaper hotels to pocket the rest of the money. We was lucky that the hotel we stayed in was nice, but talking to others, they was not so lucky.

It's a 3 star hotel, hotel is clean ,and depending on which room you have is lovely, on arrival we were given a ground floor room, which was very spacious, with only 2 single beds and a single rail to put your clothes on,very poor ,but clean.when booking we asked, for a first or 2nd floor room.We went and asked the manager who was very helpful, and we were moved to a 2nd floor room which was lovely,Disappointed with the food and the service during meal times ,out of a 11 night stay ,only on two occasions did we manage to get a drink with our food, you could help yourself to soft drinks ,but not wines or beers. One simple thing like putting self service wones and beers would make a massive difference. The hotel is under staffed, they work extremely hard ,but the service is poor, only because of the staffing levels.Disappointed with the lobby bar arrangements because they kept running out of glasses, and then was using plastic throw away cups, again due to only one person, working behind the bar,he couldn't do it all.Food was a poor selection, breakfast was good but did not cater for kids at all. They can make a meal ,but just about,on some days. But you wouldn't stave ,you can always make a meal up.Overall, we would go back, but know what to expect. They need more staff,a simple self service ,for basic wine and beer in the restaurant would be a massive improvement, and help out the staff tremendously.

We had read the reviews prior to going and had some concerns (we almost changed hotels last minute). So glad we stuck with the original booking had such a great holiday. The rooms were cleaned daily with fresh bedding and towels supplied. The beds were super comfy, my only negative on the room is the lack of storage for clothes. We had a swim up room, pool was cleaned daily just on thr colder side. The food was ok, good selection. Could have done with being hotter but the salads were the best, great variety. The drinks were a bit too syrupy for my liking, but ok selection the local beer was nice. The staff were brilliant very helpful and friendly, the manager arranged for us to have a 4pm checkout so we could stay in the room with the kids till nearer our flight time. Super grateful for this.Falaraki is a short walk away but far enough to not be bothered by the late night noise. We had a fantastic holiday and would definitely consider evita bay again, thank you.
