Filerimos Village Hotel, located on Rhodes Island in Ialysos, presents itself as a hotel and lodging option for travelers. However, recent guest reviews paint a picture of a property that often falls short of expectations, with significant discrepancies between advertised amenities and the actual guest experience. While some aspects are noted, a pervasive sense of disappointment is evident across many stays.

Overall Impressions and Star Rating Discrepancy 📉

Many guests expressed profound disappointment, with some stating the hotel is "definitely not 4 stars," rating it closer to a "2 star at the most." The overall sentiment suggests a holiday experience marred by numerous operational and maintenance issues, leading to an unsatisfying stay for many. The general consensus points to a hotel that, despite its potential, struggles with fundamental aspects of hospitality.

What Guests Experienced: The Good, The Bad, and The Unacceptable

Accommodation & Cleanliness 🛏️🚽

  • Rooms: Experiences varied. Some found main hotel rooms basic but spacious, while others noted them as "old and out of date." Bungalows, however, were anecdotally praised.
  • Room Issues: Several serious concerns were raised, including mould and damp, filthy floors, dirty bathrooms, and uncleaned rooms needing deep cleaning. Guests reported broken bathroom lights, main room lights not working, and even a "wire hanging out in the wall in the bathroom," posing a hazard.
  • Amenities: Lack of basic amenities like a kettle, bottled water in the fridge, or even proper duvet covers was highlighted. Safes were not in rooms but at reception, causing inconvenience.
  • Plumbing: A major recurring issue was "no hot water for the length of our stay" and even "no water at all for two days," which is a significant failure for any hotel.

Dining & All-Inclusive Program 🍽️🍹

  • All-Inclusive Quality: The all-inclusive package was widely criticized as "very poor." Food was often described as "inedible" or "cold," with limited variety, especially for children. One reviewer paradoxically mentioned food being "always a good choice and plenty of it," contrasting sharply with others.
  • Drinks: Drinks were generally not great, and the water machine was "hardly stocked," forcing guests to buy bottled water.
  • Bars: A significant point of contention was that only one out of four bars was included in the all-inclusive package, leading to "ridiculous" queues. Other bars, including a specific pool bar and a main entrance bar, required separate payment.
  • Restaurant Issues: The dining hall often lacked enough plates, bowls, and glasses, requiring guests to wait. There were no signs identifying the food on offer, and smoking was allowed in the outdoor dining area.

Facilities & Amenities 🏊‍♀️🎢

  • Pools & Sunbeds: A major complaint revolved around the severe shortage of sun loungers, with guests resorting to arriving before 6 am to secure one. Some sunbeds were reportedly taken to guest bungalows overnight. Pool areas were described as "grimy," "dirty," and "not cleaned properly," with one guest suspecting a parasite from the water.
  • Water Park: Guests were disappointed to find the water park closed without prior notification, even when booking close to its advertised closing date.
  • Entertainment: Entertainment was largely non-existent or outdated (e.g., 1980s magic shows), with one reviewer noting only "one man doing it all" for kids' entertainment. There were also no lifeguards on site during some stays.
  • Other Facilities: A small games room existed but was pay-to-use. The hotel's location meant one pool was next to a main road, and another played loud dance music all day. There were also reports of sewage treatment smells in the middle of the resort.

Staff & Service 🛎️👥

  • Staff Courtesy: While some staff members (like specific barmen) were praised for being friendly, pleasant, and hard-working, others reported issues with staff being "rude" or unresponsive to requests (e.g., for ashtrays or clean towels).
  • Housekeeping: Housekeeping was described as doing "little in the rooms."
  • Reception: Reception staff were often unhelpful, unable to provide basic information on bus prices to Rhodes town or local trips.
  • Understaffing: The hotel appeared "really understaffed," contributing to service delays and issues.

Location & Surroundings 📍✈️

  • Accessibility: The hotel's location is debatable. While some called it "not the best" and necessitated hiring a rental car for exploration, others found the location "great" with nearby shops. A bus stop outside offers convenient travel to Rhodes main town.
  • Beach Access: A pebbled beach is within a 15-minute walk, with nearby restaurants.
  • Noise: The hotel is located on a main road and is reportedly in the flight path into the airport, leading to considerable noise.

Considerations for Potential Guests

Given the frequent and severe criticisms, particularly regarding cleanliness, plumbing, inadequate facilities, and the poor quality of the all-inclusive offering, potential guests should temper their expectations. It appears the hotel struggles to maintain a consistent standard, and many feel it does not live up to a 4-star rating.

If considering Filerimos Village Hotel, it would be wise to:

  • Verify water park operation if this is a key amenity for your stay.
  • Prepare for potential basic amenities not being available in rooms.
  • Consider hiring a rental car for greater flexibility in exploring Rhodes, as suggested by guests.
  • Be aware of the potential for noise from the main road and airport flight path.

Overall, while some positive notes regarding staff friendliness and room modernity exist, they are often overshadowed by significant and recurring issues that impacted guest comfort and enjoyment.

A little disappointed by our stay. It was great for sleeping and eating but nothing else. We ended up hiring a rental car for the week just so we could explore and go somewhere where there were beds to lounge on.The location isn’t the best location and can only assume this is why it wasn’t so expensive. However, for the price we did pay we would expect the hotel to have enough sun loungers for people to enjoy the pools. There were little and the few they do have get taken to other guests rooms (bungalows next to pool) overnight so when you come to the pool early (before 6am) there are no beds. The hotel was dirty and the pool sides were grimy.Staff were polite but when asked if we could have an ash tray or a clean towels we were told they would get someone to bring them to our rooms and they never turned up. The housekeeping staff do little in the rooms and the floors are filthy as well as the bathrooms.I’d also check when booking that the checking in times are correct ours said 2pm but when we arrived we were told 3pm and then had to wait an extra hour as the room still wasn’t ready. The rooms are basic but spacious (main part of the hotel) I’ve heard great things about the bungalows. The all inclusive was good but ended up eating out during the day due to no availability next to the pool so going elsewhere.

Disappointed. Hotel is definitely not 4 stars. 2 star at the most.Pros: Room was good quite modern and air con worked well, rooms cleaned daily. Staff were very friendly and worked hard, beautiful landscaping. Great bar by the main entrance ran by Abraham who was very friendly although you had to pay for the drinks from this bar and it wasn’t cheapThere was a small games room with pool tables and arcade type machines which again you had to pay forThere is a bus stop outside the front of hotel where we were able to travel to Rhodes main town which was a great day out. At the front of the hotel is a great little shop selling snacks etc. There is a pebbled beach near by to the hotel which is around a 15 minute walk with restaurants near by.Cons: all inclusive very poor. Food and drink served in dining hall really poor sometimes inedible, drinks not great either. Water machine hardly stocked ended up buying bottled water from onsite shop everyday. Only one bar out of the 4 open on the complex were included in the all inclusive and the queue was ridiculous. Hotel entertainment for kids was non existent other than one man doing it all. Hotel really understaffed. But most importantly the plumbing situation in the rooms: no hot water for the length of our stay and no water at all for two days of our trip!!It was really difficult to get a sunbed around the pool had to resort to going to the pool at 5am one morning just to try and get oneHotels pools and the areas around them are not cleaned properly, really dirty and we actually fell ill with suspected parasite from the waterNeedless to say we won’t be returning

Very disappointed there was mould and damp in the room & stayed in for two nights so far.- Waiting for the company I booked with to see what they can do.Definitely disappointed and wouldn’t recommend to come here .Black bin bags covered in hall way outside the family room block.Staff were rudeThey didn’t even clean my room properly. Took c cleaner in and out but I re looked and still the same. Needs a deep clean not a wipe over.Water park was closed when it says it closes end of October. Not very fair that there is a pool bar which you have to pay. Only two places you can get unlimited drinks from. Not very clear what part of the hotel is the unlimited drinks or food is at- No activites or any life guards on site while during the stay so far- Receptionist didn’t know about what the prices are for buses to Rhodes town.COLD NO HOT water and not aloud baths when it says on a small white note on the side avoid running the tap for a long amount of time.Food is cold -- no sign saying what the food is on the plate with all inclusiveHAZARD //wire hanging out in the wall in the bathroom- light coming into the hallway before entry to the room don’t work so you have to have a torch on your phone. So that’s a hazard really what happens if there was a fire- no bottle of water in fridge even though everyone meant to have 3.5 litre lol 😂- no kettle- no bottle of water if need drink over night- not even a cover it’s a bottom sheet which is the top sheet which it’s classed as a (duvet cover to them)- the main light don’t work in the room- not obvious where the pool bit is or snack bar.- dirty mattress & nothing was sorted- receptionist don’t even know on like trips, prices for buses or anything.- not even clear where everything is like snack bar etc- transfers were counselled by the company and they lied to us who we booked it with so it’s been problem after problem

Just came back from 8 nights!Hotel - waterpark wasn't on which we wasn't notified off, main pools open though.Rooms was decent I stayed in the main hotel floor 1. Bathroom light worked when it wanted too,but apart from that had everything you needed. Safe was a box behind reception not in the room which was annoying. The bar man on the all inclusive bar of an evening was fantastic so pleasant, always happy. The bar man on the "paying" bar was also a vibe and a right laugh.Pool bar snacks was okay but end of season was always the same couple of remarks how my son doesn't always eat everything on his plate but he's 4.Location is great couple shops if you walk down either way but I hired a car for 4 days which was great.Evening restraunt was pretty much always the same no kids selection which was annoying. No entertainment other than Greek dancing on a Wednesday but we went when season was coming to an end.Overall wasn't a bad holiday and would use hotel again if waterpark was working

If you want a hotel based on a main road and in the flight ✈️ path into the airport, this is perfect for you.... the rooms or old and out of date.. one of the pools is next to the main road and the other they pkay loud dance music all day long and there are less than half the sunbeds needed for a resort so big... it has evening entertainment as long as you like magic shows from the 1980s and sitting down wind of the sewage treatment in the middle of the resort. The staff in the snack bar just oggly the young ladies. If you want to use the front quieter pool and then want a drink you have to walk through the resort to the snack bar and back when they could easily leave the self severe drinks in the restaurant open. One very good point is that food is always a good choice and plenty of it. But the reastrant does not have enough plates bowls glasses, and you can often find yourself having to wait... they still allow people to smoke at the tables in the outdoor area of the restaurant.. and in the rooms as each room comes with ashtrays...... Happy holidays
