Fish Restaurant Plimmiri

Nestled in the picturesque village of Plimmiri on the stunning island of Rhodes, Greece, Fish Restaurant Plimmiri offers a truly authentic and traditional Greek dining experience, specializing in fresh seafood.
A Focus on Unbeatable Freshness
The overwhelming consensus among visitors points to one undeniable highlight: the exceptional freshness of the fish. Reviews consistently praise the daily catch, often sourced directly from the local beach. Patrons are even invited into the kitchen to view the "catch of the day," allowing them to personally select their preferred fish, which is then weighed and prepared fresh for their order. This commitment to fresh, locally sourced ingredients is a cornerstone of the restaurant's appeal.
Traditional Preparation and Taste 😋
Preparation at Fish Restaurant Plimmiri is kept simple yet effective, with seafood often cooked over hot coals or grilled to perfection. This method allows the natural flavors of the fresh fish to shine through. Many reviewers laud the "perfect taste," "awesome fish," and "tasty starters," emphasizing the delicious, traditional Greek flavors. Dishes are typically served with freshly cut chips, a crisp Greek salad, and classic accompaniments like tzatziki, rounding out a satisfying meal.
Atmosphere and Location 🏖️
The restaurant embodies a "humble flair" and a "typical sea side restaurant" vibe, offering a laid-back and unfussy environment. It's explicitly noted that this is "nothing fancy" and not geared towards fine dining, but rather an authentic local establishment. Its location near the harbor provides a "stunning view of the marina and the beach," adding to the charm of the dining experience, especially on the windy coast.
Service and Customer Interaction
Generally, the staff are described as "very friendly" and accommodating, with English-speaking capabilities that assist in navigating the menu and selection process. However, one review highlighted a negative experience concerning a burnt octopus dish and a perceived confrontational response from the staff when feedback was given. This isolated incident contrasts sharply with the otherwise positive service mentions. Another point of contention was a charge for a single-use tablecloth and the serving of bread in the same container as cutlery, which some found questionable.
Key Considerations for Visitors:
- Accessibility: The restaurant is "a drive" unless you are staying nearby, but many feel it's "SO worth the trip!"
- Ambiance: Expect a traditional, rustic Greek taverna atmosphere rather than a luxurious fine-dining setting.
- Ordering: While the menu might be "a little jumbled up," the opportunity to choose your fish directly from the kitchen compensates for this.
- Potential for Smoke: One review mentioned the place being filled with white smoke from the grill, which might be a factor for some.
Overall Recommendation
For those seeking an authentic Greek culinary adventure focused on exceptionally fresh, simply prepared seafood in a traditional, humble seaside setting, Fish Restaurant Plimmiri comes highly recommended. While an isolated negative experience points to potential inconsistencies in service or specific dish preparation, the vast majority of patrons celebrate it as a must-visit for its fresh catch, delicious taste, and genuine local charm.
If you like a traditional greek restaurant, nothing fancy but perfect taste ! Then this is your place! Fresh fish, fresh salad, tasty starters 🍺🍺 highly recommended!
Awesome fish restaurant, they have plenty of fresh fish caught daily, a la carte menu they weigh it for you and tell you the price. Grilled, nothing to complain about. Stunning view of the marina and the beach.
This is hands down, the best seafood shack in Rhodes. And probably the best place in this part of the Aegean. Nothing is fancy….But everything is fresh, caught at the local beach and supplied to the restaurant. Who then cook, to order, over hot coals. Everything is served with chips + tasty Greek sides and cold beer and wines. It is a drive, unless you are staying close by. But SO worth the trip!
Here is a typical sea side restaurant with humble flair. If you are looking for fine dining then this is probably not for you. However, if you are looking for fresh fish for dinner then this location is a must.Located near the harbour, on the windy coast, this restaurant is what I imagine a typical greek local restaurant would be. The staff are very friendly and speak English, which helps as the menu ist a little jumbled up!However you are invited to the kitchen where the catch of the day is on display. The different types of fish are explained, if you are not too certain of the types you’re looking at. Once you have made your choice, the fish is prepared ie descaled and ready for the BBQ.We chose sea bass, octopus and giant shrimps, freshly cut chips, a greek salad and tzatziki.I would give top marks but I have deducted a few points just so you know what to expect when you arrive. The freshly BBQ‘d fish makes up for the lost points on ambience.Highly recommend!
Amazing food! We had fresh fish and seafood, handmade fava (split beans), greek salad and delicious local wine. There is a big variety to choose from. Everything is fresh and tasty! Very nicely cooked! Service is great as well! Good people and good food at a beautiful quiet spot. Highly recommended! I'll definitely go again! Thank you guys! Loved this place!
