Fokia Beach

Nestled in Pefki, Rhodes Island, Fokia Beach offers a distinctive escape from the more commercialized coastal spots. This isn't your typical sandy expanse with sunbeds and bustling beach bars; instead, it's a serene and untouched natural bay, highly praised by visitors for its tranquility and exceptional underwater experiences.
🌊 Ideal for Snorkeling & Diving
The consistent five-star ratings highlight Fokia Beach as a premier destination for underwater enthusiasts. The water here is consistently described as "beautifully clear", revealing a vibrant aquatic world beneath the surface. Visitors rave about the presence of "gorgeous fish", making it an excellent spot for both snorkeling and practicing shallow dives. If you're looking to explore marine life, Fokia Beach should be at the top of your list.
🏖️ A Unique Coastal Landscape
Unlike traditional beaches, Fokia Beach is characterized by its rocky terrain rather than soft sand. Reviewers note it's "not really a beach, just a big rock", or a mix of "pebbles, big rocks on the right or massive white rock/ sand formation on the left." This unique landscape also contributes to its appeal for photography, with "sand rocks that are good for making photos."
It's crucial to be aware that the rocks can be "extremely slippery", and swimming boots are "highly advised" for comfortable and safe access to the water. While there isn't much space for traditional sunbathing, it's still "doable even with kids if careful," provided you are prepared for the rocky environment.
🚫 Unspoiled & Amenity-Free
What makes Fokia Beach truly special for many is its unspoiled nature. This means you won't find the usual tourist amenities here. There are "no sun beds, no sandy beach, no toilets, no bars nearby." This absence of facilities is precisely what preserves its quiet and natural charm, appealing to those who prefer an authentic, less crowded experience. Visitors often report seeing only a few small groups of people, ensuring a peaceful atmosphere.
📍 Accessibility & Tips
Fokia Beach is conveniently located, approximately a "10 min drive from Lindos." Access is straightforward with a "tarmac road all the way there" and a "small car park (max 10 cars) on the side of the road." For those relying on public transport, it's about a "15-20 minutes by walk from the closest bus stop."
If you're seeking a tranquil, natural swimming spot with crystal-clear waters perfect for snorkeling and diving, and you don't mind the absence of typical beach amenities, Fokia Beach is an absolute must-visit on Rhodes Island. It offers a refreshing departure from the ordinary, allowing you to connect with the island's serene beauty.
Came here in the middle of May there was no one else except a group of divers that had just finished up. Good for a quiet dip in calm clean waters. Not much sand it's a bit rocky but didn't have any issues getting into the water.
Not a beach. This is just a small cove with rubble and pallets in a small area that you can sit on. That said, it was great for snorkelling. We spent a few hours at this location .Feels secluded, and we only saw about 6 people in all the whole time. This is roughing it, though. No tiolet, no facilities .Parking is free just above the cove in a rough area off the road. Overall I liked this spot.
Really pretty little cove for swimming... Very quiet. Nice rock pool. Not a beach as such... You need to hike down a large rock to get down there.
Great for snorkeling and practice diving for a few meters. Not really a beach, just a big rock. But it's really pretty and the water was beautifully clear. We had around 5-6 small groups of people there. It took us around 15-20 minutes by walk from the closest bus stop.
Quiet, beautiful bay 10 min drive from Lindos. Tarmac road all the way there and a small car park (max 10 cars) on the aide of the road. Don’t go there if you expect a sanitised beach with sun beds. This is at the opposite end and one of the few beaches left untouched in Rodos. No sun beds, no sandy beach, no toilets, no bars nearby. Gorgeous fish and clear waters. A few options to place sun towels - pebbles, big rocks on the right or massive white rock/ sand formation on the left.
