Katzen-Spendenbox

FEATURES
Nestled at Pl. Neoriou, Rodos 851 00, Greece, the Katzen-Spendenbox is more than just a tourist attraction or point of interest; it's a testament to compassion and community care for the stray cats of Rhodes Island. This unassuming alcove serves as a vital hub for local felines and a gathering point for visitors who wish to support a truly heartwarming cause.
A Dedicated Caretaker and a Long-Standing Commitment ❤️
At the heart of this initiative is a remarkable individual, often referred to as Mikez, who has dedicated an astonishing 35 years to caring for the island's cat population. His commitment extends far beyond this specific location; he is known to feed and look after numerous cats across the island regularly, particularly in the evenings. This ongoing, selfless effort ensures that many of Rhodes' street cats receive the sustenance and attention they desperately need, including food and vet bills.
The Feline Residents: Friendly and Grateful Kitties 🐈
The cats residing at and around the Katzen-Spendenbox are renowned for their friendly and approachable nature. They are accustomed to human interaction and are often eager to receive affection. Visitors are encouraged to make a fuss over them, offering gentle pets and enjoying their charming presence. These cats, while clearly loved and cared for by their dedicated guardian, are also in need, making every interaction and contribution meaningful. They are described as loving, thankful, and unfortunately, still in a vulnerable position.
Supporting the Cause: How You Can Help 💰
The primary purpose of the Katzen-Spendenbox is to facilitate donations that directly fund the cats' well-being. All contributions go towards essential needs such as cat food and veterinary care. There are several ways visitors can lend their support:
- Monetary Donations: Look for the piggybank at the location. Even a small amount can make a significant difference, as purchasing cat food daily for so many animals is a considerable ongoing expense.
- Donating Cat Food: Bringing wet food or other cat goodies is highly welcomed. Visitors can directly feed the cats, providing immediate nourishment and forming a bond.
The dedication of the caretaker is widely respected and appreciated by those who witness his efforts. Visitors consistently express gratitude for his tireless work in caring for these vulnerable animals, recognizing the immense effort involved.
A Must-Visit for Animal Enthusiasts 🌟
For anyone visiting Rhodes Island, especially animal lovers, the Katzen-Spendenbox offers a unique and touching experience. It's an opportunity not only to interact with delightful cats but also to contribute to a genuine local effort that makes a tangible difference in the lives of these animals. It’s a place of quiet compassion and a powerful reminder of how small acts of kindness can create a significant impact.
Mikez and the cats are great. He’s been taking care of them for 35 years. All donations go towards cat food & vet bills. Cats are super friendly so don’t be scared to make a fuss.
This man is very lovely and kind. We met him further away from this place taking care of several other cats (so he is not taking care about them just here). He buys them food and goes to feed them regularly, every evening. Please donate him some money to the piggybank , buying cat food every day is not cheap.Thank you!
Old alcove occupied by a bunch of lovely cats providing some shade for them. Bring cat food & goodies or throw some coins in their piggybank if present, kind old man will take care of the rest (bless you). They're used to public and pleased even when you just pet them.
To the person who takes care of the cats, Respect, thank you very much 🙏🏻 donations in cat food are welcomed!
Lovely place full of cats. When you go there, preferably in the evening, bring some wet food and feed some cats there. They are all loving, thankful and also unfortunately poor :(
