The Kolympia Climbing Sector, nestled in the scenic landscape of Rhodes Island, Greece, presents a promising, albeit small, destination for rock climbing enthusiasts. Located at 64VX R9, Archangelos 851 02, this area functions as a sports activity location and a point of interest for those seeking outdoor adventure.

📍 Location and Accessibility

Finding the Kolympia climbing sector requires a bit of attention to detail, as the original map point can be misleading. According to recent visitor feedback, the actual crag is located approximately 200 meters further south from the initial marked location, maintaining an east orientation.

Once you navigate to the correct vicinity, the approach to the crag itself is relatively straightforward and quick, typically taking only 7-10 minutes. While directions may not always be readily available online for the precise spot, knowing to look slightly south of the initial marker should help in locating this climbing area.

⛰️ The Climbing Experience

The Kolympia sector is characterized by its compact nature, currently offering a limited number of established routes, specifically five. However, what it lacks in quantity, it makes up for in potential and challenge:

  • Limited Routes, High Potential: While there are only a handful of routes, climbers note a huge potential for future development and the establishment of many more lines.
  • Difficulty: This sector is not recommended for beginners. The routes are consistently challenging, with even what is considered the easiest route, "Faith," being estimated at a significant difficulty of 6b or 6c. There are genuinely no easy routes available here.
  • Known Routes: The five identified routes include:
    1. Oregano
    2. Faith
    3. Yoko
    4. Mariotolini
    5. Daify

☀️ Best Time to Climb

With its east orientation, the Kolympia climbing sector benefits from direct sunlight in the morning. However, it transitions into shade by approximately 16:00 (4 PM), particularly noticeable in months like September. This makes the late afternoon an ideal time to climb, offering respite from the intense Greek sun, especially during warmer seasons.

🌟 Overall Impression

The Kolympia Climbing Sector offers a focused and challenging experience for intermediate to advanced climbers visiting Rhodes. Its current small scale is balanced by significant potential for expansion, making it an interesting spot for those looking to contribute to or simply enjoy a less-developed, demanding climbing area. Be prepared for a short approach and remember the crucial tip about the crag's slightly southerly deviation from the initial map pin!

Nice place with only 5 routes, but with a huge potential for a lot more routes. East orientation - at 16:00 is crag already in shade (September). There are no easy routes here. We did "Faith" route which might be the easiest one here by my opinion and my guess for difficulty is 6b+ or 6c. Original point in map is incorrect, crag is 200m souther (east orientation)
