Located at 6th klm Kallithea avenue, Kallithea 851 00, Greece, the Kresten Palace is a hotel and lodging establishment on Rhodes Island, offering a blend of impressive amenities and areas for improvement, particularly concerning its dining experience.
Aesthetic Appeal & Comfortable Stays ✨
Guests frequently praise the hotel's visual appeal, describing it as "absolutely gorgeous" and "beautiful." The rooms, whether standard or coveted swim-up rooms with sea views, are consistently highlighted as lovely, clean, and spacious. Daily cleaning services and fresh towel changes contribute significantly to a comfortable and well-maintained environment. Many visitors have been delighted by the fantastic and amazing views from their accommodations, adding to the overall holiday experience.
Exceptional Staff & Engaging Entertainment 👏
A recurring theme in reviews is the outstanding quality of the Kresten Palace staff. From welcoming reception teams to kind and helpful maids, bar staff, and the engaging entertainment crew, the service is often described as friendly, enthusiastic, and attentive. Special mentions go to entertainment staff like Kiko, who actively strives to involve everyone in the evening activities, which are considered "brilliant." The hotel is noted as a very good option for both families and couples.
Dining Experience: A Mixed Plate 🍲
This is where feedback becomes notably polarized. While some guests acknowledge "plenty of variety" and the presence of vegan and gluten-free options in the main restaurant, the predominant concern revolves around the temperature and quality of the buffet food. Many reviews lament that breakfast and dinner buffets are consistently cold, with "little variety" and "low quality ingredients." One guest specifically noted the repetitive nature of dishes (e.g., four variations of the same item) and inconsistent labelling, particularly for desserts. Those with dietary restrictions, especially avoiding pork, found their choices severely limited in the main restaurant, sometimes being left with only rice and vegetables. The evening bar's food quality was also occasionally criticized.
However, the pool bar offers a more positive culinary experience, with its food described as "good" and "reasonably priced," providing a welcome alternative to the main buffet.
Location & Accessibility 🗺️
The hotel's location offers both convenience and some limitations. It benefits from a bus stop and taxi rank directly across the road, making excursions relatively easy with affordable public transport (buses are around €2.50 each, and taxis are not overly expensive). There is also beach access within a convenient 5-minute walk. On the other hand, the immediate vicinity has limited dining options, with only three restaurants within a 15-20 minute walking distance. This often prompts guests to hire vehicles like quads (around €60 per day) to explore Rhodes Island more extensively.
Important Considerations for Your Stay 👇
- 🍳 Main Restaurant Food: Be prepared for potentially cold food in the main buffet, and consider the pool bar for better quality and warmth.
- 🚪 Room Location: While generally good, some guests noted that rooms might feel a "long way from the main building" and "dated" upon night arrival, though impressions improved in daylight.
- ☀️ Swim-Up Rooms: A significant point to note is that some guests advise against upgrading to swim-up (pool) rooms because they reportedly do not receive any sun exposure due to the hotel's positioning, which blocks sunlight from reaching these specific rooms.
- 🛍️ Local Amenities: The hotel has an on-site shop, and another convenience store is located across the road, offering plenty of useful holiday items.
Final Thoughts ✅
The Kresten Palace stands out for its beautiful premises, comfortable and clean rooms, and exceptionally friendly and helpful staff, all contributing to making "lovely family memories." While the dining experience in the main restaurant may be a consistent point of contention regarding food temperature and variety, the overall positive aspects, coupled with good accessibility to transport and a nearby beach, make Kresten Palace a strong contender for a memorable holiday on Rhodes Island.
What an absolute blast i had coming here!🤩The reception staff was so kind and helpful, as love holidays managed to mess up my room, which wasn’t the first time it had happened so watch out for that through love holidays. However reception sorted it and got me the room was an additional charge but so worth it!The breakfast don’t get me wrong wasn’t the best option, we didn’t eat any other meals here as we ate out instead, so i can’t comment on much food, but for the breakfast if you’re not a fussy eater you’d be fine! The cocktail bar at the hotel was really really good! Very more for kids not sure if it was cause we went out of season.. possibly. The supermarket on site was mint! and the lady who works there id genuinely pay the price again to go back and see her! What an amazing woman🤍Rhodes is so beautiful and this hotel really made the effort to fit in! Loved my stay here and would 100% return… people are so unrealistic about their reviews on hotels… but this one was absolutely unreal👏👏
Reception were extremely rude, not willing to be helpful or accommodating. They would only hear what they wanted to hear regardless of how many times you’d repeat yourself. We arrived early for check in so we had to wait which was fair but ended up having to wait an extra 2 hours. Our room was a 10 min walk to the other side of the resort through two lifts and was expected to find it ourselves. The room was above the swim up pool so it smelt like chlorine constantly. The hotel refused to change our room which was extremely dirty with ants crawling around. We had people barge in at the end of our trip constantly asking when we’d be leaving. The reception being our first point in contact ended up ruining the beginning and end of our trip.Room cleaners & the staff members at the restaurant were extremely helpful and polite. Helped us find our way around, always made sure we had everything we needed. Always helped and served with a smile.Hotel matters although it’s a beautiful hotel definitely would not recommend.
Overall the hotel area is spacious and clean.Main bulding is also clean and new.Staff is friendly and helpful.Kids have lots of space to run around and big pool for playing. Also direct acess to beach area (which is rocky)For us was a bit dissapointment the room we had. We had family room nr 4xx.You cant regulate the room temperature. Bed sheets were a bit moist at the arrival date.Ants were crawling around. Room build quality was rather 3-star hotel. It was hard to sleep at night because the walls etc let through every sound literally. When someone walked past your outdoor it felt like someone was in your room. Also the wifi in your room is not for free - have to pay extra.
We spent a week here in mid-April 2025. Excellent reception and generally very friendly and helpful staff, of whom I unfortunately could not remember all the names, except for Nena from the reception. A large and beautiful looking resort (also excellently located) with many facilities. The staff did everything they could to help us because the heating did not work, which made it quite cold in our room at night. Further down we found a beautiful stretch of beach, hidden between the rocks and where we experienced wonderful peace and quiet with a beautiful view of the sea. In summary: a very nice holiday on this beautiful island with its friendly and generous population and thoroughly enjoyed the excursions, the traditional dishes, the incredibly rich history and the beautiful folk music.
Don’t think this hotel is worth the 4 stars that it advertises.1- I arrived to this hotel at around 1am/2am, I ended up having to stand in a queue for nearly 45 minutes because the guy behind the check in desk was extremely slow, Baring in mind their was only a family in front wanting to check in (2 adults, 2 children)2- Once we eventually managed to check in, We were then hit with a £70 tax for the duration of our stay which I didn’t mind paying but I would of liked to be informed this before hand.3- After we was given our room key we was given directions to our hotel room which was out of the main hotel complex, I expected for someone to either lead us the way or maybe even help with our luggage. We were sent on a 10 minute journey to our hotel room which in my eyes customers who are coming to stay at your hotel and pay quiet a bit of money to stay in a “Luxurious” hotel room that they have never visited before should just be shown around to their room especially with it been in a completely separate building.4- When we made it to our room it didn’t strike me as it had been cleaned very well, The room had a cigarette smell/damp smell to it, The floor was dirty in the bedroom and bathroom and their was dust accumulated on the lamps and side boards.5- The room was cold on a night and there was no AC to heat up the room other than to make it colder through an air vent that stunk!6- Their was an ant infestation under out bathroom sink that just got worse over time, Nothing was done about this.7- As mentioned we checked in around 1am/2am we was shattered but hungry their was no where to grab a snack or food from in which we had to order food from outside which didn’t arrive till nearly 4am, We eventually managed to get to sleep at 5ish to find out a few hours into our sleep the cleaner is in our room, We asked the cleaner to leave and before we knew it she was back in the room.8- We paid for a swim up room in which was a extra cost, We checked out our pool to find out on inspection their was drinking cups inside the pools just left floating and wasps and other insects within, This pool was not maintained to a good enough standard to want to get in.9- We wasn’t made aware the pool wasn’t heated, The water was extremely cold and god forbid the poor children that got into that water at the temperature, For the whole duration of our stay we didn’t get to utilise the swimming pool due to the above reasons.10- Breakfast, We attended breakfast on one occasion for our stay and the day we tried this out it was a regret, Their was many options which were empty, We ended up having cake for our breakfast. There was empty tables that hadn’t been wiped/cleaned down for the next people to use. I had to approach a member of staff to ask for cutlery and to also ask her to clean a table for us to sit and enjoy our dessert, We walked over to the table with a attitude of a 10 year old and wiped the bits of the table with her arm and walked away. This was our only experience because after this encounter we thought it was just better to eat out everyday and stay away from the hotel.Would we stay again, Absolutely not, Would we recommend this absolutely not.Hire a car or quad and go round the island it’s much more fun!
