Nestled in the tranquil Lardos Bay area of Rhodes Island, Lardos Bay Hotel (Lardos 851 09, Greece) is widely regarded as a strong value proposition for travelers. While it positions itself as a 4-star establishment, many guests attest that the overall experience, particularly the exceptional staff and welcoming atmosphere, can feel akin to a 5-star resort. It's not designed as a high-luxury destination, but rather a place where guests feel comfortable and at home.

⭐ Overall Impression & Value

  • Guests frequently commend the hotel for its excellent value for money.
  • Repeat visitors and first-timers alike are confident in recommending the hotel, highlighting its suitability for families and couples eager to explore the island.
  • The hotel's ambiance fosters a warm, "at home" feeling, making it ideal for those who prioritize genuine hospitality over opulent facilities.

👨‍🍳 Dining Experience & Culinary Offerings

The buffet-style food at Lardos Bay Hotel generally receives positive feedback for its variety and taste, although some nuances are noted:

  • Variety & Quality: The food is often described as "surprisingly delicious" with a "very good variety," ensuring "something for everyone." Particular highlights include "McDonald's-like fries" and diverse breakfast options.
  • Breakfast: A strong point, featuring "fresh food," including pancakes and fried eggs made by the chef, and an abundance of fruit choices.
  • Dinner: Themed evenings, such as Greek night with souvlaki, gyros, pita, and tzatziki, are a hit. Guests recommend dining earlier to ensure full availability of all dishes.
  • Beverages: While some all-inclusive packages include alcohol, standard coffee served with meals is often deemed "undrinkable." Guests are advised to purchase espresso from the bar for a better experience (around 3 euros).
  • Food Allergies: A standout feature is the catering staff's "110% understanding" of food allergies and dietary requirements, providing guests with significant peace of mind.

🛏️ Accommodation & Room Comfort

Room experiences at Lardos Bay Hotel vary, often described as basic but functional, with daily cleaning services:

  • Some guests enjoyed "great and beautiful rooms" with private pools.
  • Rooms are typically "simple" and "basic but clean," with floors cleaned and towels changed daily.
  • However, some reviews mention specific cleanliness issues, such as "gunk in the shower walls," a "dirty mini fridge," and occasional ants. One guest also felt the hotel's website photos did not accurately reflect the standard of their room, noting a particularly dirty shower.

🏊‍♀️ Facilities & Amenities

  • Swimming Pool: The hotel features a "very nice swimming pool" complemented by "comfy cabanas." A common complaint is the practice of guests reserving sunbeds with towels early in the morning, which can lead to limited availability for others later in the day.
  • On-site Shop: A convenient mini-supermarket is available within the hotel, offering souvenirs, snacks, and essentials, though prices are slightly higher than external stores.
  • Check-out Services: The hotel provides useful amenities for guests after check-out, including lockers for luggage and a shower facility, although the latter lacks hangers for towels.
  • Entertainment: Evening events are offered, with the Greek live music being particularly appreciated, while some other activities might be perceived as "a little tacky."

📍 Location & Accessibility

Lardos Bay Hotel enjoys a quiet setting with good connections to key attractions and services:

  • Beach Proximity: The beach is just a "2-minute walk" away. It's noted for being clean and uncrowded, but bringing water shoes is recommended due to rocky areas. The hotel's designated beach section is described as neglected, with worn sunbeds that cost 10 euros per day.
  • Local Area: The immediate vicinity is quiet, with a lack of diverse restaurants or bars. However, additional shops and eateries can be accessed via neighboring hotel premises.
  • Lardos Village: The center of Lardos, offering more dining and shopping options, is approximately a "30-minute walk" away, with a flashlight recommended for evening strolls.
  • Public Transport: A bus stop conveniently located directly in front of the hotel provides easy access to popular destinations like Lindos (10-20 minutes, 2 euros), Rhodes Town, and Prasonisi.
  • Ferry Service: A small ferry departs from the nearby beach to Lindos, costing 15 euros for a round trip.
  • Car Rental: Car rental services are available 3-4 km away, with "George Car Rental" highly recommended for excellent service and competitive pricing.
  • Scenery: The hotel grounds and surrounding landscape are praised for their beauty, featuring palm trees, various flowers, a fig tree, and scenic mountain views.

This hotel is amazing, the catering staff 110% understand my partners food allergies and dietary requirements. We feel very confident in recommending anyone to stay here, it’s a 4* hotel that in our mind is easily 5*. This is the second time we have stayed here now and will come again. Lovely for children also.

The hotel isn’t a luxury resort, but we still absolutely loved it. The rooms are simple and could honestly be cleaner (there was some gunk in the shower walls, the mini fridge was a bit dirty from the outside etc), and there were a few ants, but we didn’t mind it as much cause everything else was nice and clean. The floors were cleaned and towels were changed everyday, which we really liked. The town is quite far away but there’s a bus stop right infront of the hotel. There is also a little shop that sells souvenirs, snacks and essencials incase you forgot to bring anything. The staff is absolutely incredible, very helpful, polite and kind. Food was served bufet-style and was good, some things were better, some worse, but there’s something for everyone. One thing that surprised us a bit is that you have to pay for coffee from the bar, even if you have all inclusive, but they only offer light all inclusive so maybe that’s the reason. The beach is very close to the hotel, about a 2 minute walk. The beach is clean, not overfilled and the water is great, but you might want to bring water shoes cause there is a lot of rocks. Next to the beach is another supermarket with an even bigger selection of snacks and drinks. Tap water is safe to drink, but has a strong chlorine taste, so I reccommend buying bottled. The area is absolutely beautiful, there’s a ton of palm trees, flowers and even a fig tree, and there’s a beautiful view of some mountains. Overall, I wouldn’t reccommend this to anyone who values high luxury resorts, but it is a great value hotel where they made us feel welcome and at home (which I personally prefer over gold plated steaks and expensive drinks in a private pool)

I recommend the hotel 3.9 out of 5. The photos on the hotel website do not reflect the standard of my room. The bathroom equipment, such as the shower, was very dirty, I was afraid to turn on the water. Room service good. A very nice swimming pool, however unfortunately people were reserving the sunbeds with towels since early morning and in fact there were no people there until 12. (In my opinion, it should have a place for hotel guests who want to use the pool). The hotel is located in a quiet area, it was not far from the hotel beach, but it is very neglected with worn-out sunbeds and we have to walk 300 m further and the sunbeds cost 10 euros per day. There were no guests on this hotel beach. There are no restaurants or bars near the hotel to diversify the hotel experience. There is a bus stop. From the stop we can get really anywhere, to Lindos (2 euros, 20 minutes), Rhodes, Parasonisi. From the beach to Lindos you can get a small ferry for 15 euros per person, round trip. We walked about 30 minutes to the center of Lardos with bars, restaurants and shops. It's good to have a flashlight :). There are also several shops and restaurants in the vicinity of neighboring hotels, but it is best to access the beach through the premises of these hotels. Meals at the hotel depending on where we are staying and our stay. I don't agree with the opinion that everyday there were the same breakfast options. There was simply everything for breakfast and you could actually eat something else.I agree with the opinion that the coffee served with meals is undrinkable, it is better to buy the coffee from an espresso machine for 3 euros. Dinner theoretically until 9:30 p.m. On Wednesday there was a themed evening with typical Greek food, suvlaki, gyros, pita, tzatziki. We had dinner only at 9 p.m. after returning from Lindos. At 9:10 p.m. lady restaurant manager took the last 7 pieces of pita onto her plate, just before me, I was standing in the line after her, I didn't get the dish I really wanted. So I recommend coming for dinner a little earlier than us. There is also a shop in the hotel, where you can find most of the necessary items, the prices are slightly higher than in stores. There are car rental companies 3-4 km away, we booked through the website (George Car Rental). I highly recommend it, the car is in excellent condition, new, great service and support at the best price. We had to leave the hotel at 6 p.m., the check-in time ended at 11 a.m. The hotel has lockers for suitcases and a shower for guests who have already checked out (a great option), but there are no hangers for towels or underwear in the shower.

I think the hotel was great. I would say it's a great deal for money. Would consider it as a 4* hotel even. Room was very basic but clean and it was cleaned everyday. Food was surprisingly delicious and had a very good variety (fries tasted like McDonald's fries) chicken was dry most days but other dishes were delicious and even alcohol was included. Breakfast was great aswell, many fruit options. Staff is super-super helpful and friendly really liked them.Location is okay, Lindos is very close like 10-15min by bus. The beach is near, 2min walk but it wasn't the greatest beach. There is a supermarket in the hotel which is very convenient. Pool is nice and the cabanas were comfy. They have different events every evening which are a little tacky, Greek live music was the only good one.Overall I do recommend this hotel especially for couples who want to explore the island as well.

Great and beautiful rooms with the private pool. The staff is kind. Great breakfast with fresh food. The chef makes also fresh pancakes and Fried eggs. The downside of the hotel is the hygiene of the rooms.
