Please note: While the request specified "Greece Rhodes Island," the provided address for Meriç Hotel Turunç clearly places it in Turunç, Marmaris, Türkiye. This review is based on the hotel's actual geographical location in Turkey.
Meriç Hotel Turunç elicits a wide spectrum of opinions from its guests, ranging from deeply disappointing to surprisingly pleasant, often with the caveat of managing expectations for a budget-friendly establishment. With ratings swinging from 1 to 5 stars, potential visitors should carefully weigh the varied experiences.
The hotel boasts a wonderful location, offering stunning city and sea views. Guests appreciate the peaceful vista from their rooms. However, one significant concern raised by a neighbor was the hotel's music being excessively loud, indicating a potential issue with noise levels that may impact guests and the surrounding area.
Rooms at Meriç Hotel are generally described as spacious, with one guest even receiving an upgrade to a partial sea view. They are noted to be "ok" and functional, featuring air conditioning. While not luxurious or new, they are generally found to be clean upon arrival. However, cleanliness during the stay and overall hotel cleanliness are recurring concerns, with some guests reporting that housekeeping only changed towels and took out trash, and even cats entering the restaurant area.
The culinary offerings receive mixed reviews. Some guests found the food to be "tasty" and "decent," particularly enjoying the yogurts and a good kebab on one occasion. The variety of vegetables was also appreciated, allowing for healthy eating. However, others were severely disappointed, describing the food as "awful" and repetitive, with breakfast being "same every day" (cheese, salads, boiled eggs) and a lack of pastries. The coffee is consistently rated as "extremely bad," with the hot chocolate machine reportedly only dispensing water, leading guests to seek alternatives from local markets. The restaurant space is described as quite small and sometimes crowded.
The hotel staff generally receives commendation for being friendly and helpful. Many guests highlighted that the "people are nice here" and "try their best," contributing positively to their stay, especially in resolving issues. However, one specific negative comment noted "rude managers" in response to a noise complaint from a neighbor.
Meriç Hotel Turunç offers a mixed bag. Its strengths lie in its good location, pleasant staff, functional air-conditioned and spacious rooms (some with good views), and effective Wi-Fi. The poolside bar and its cocktails are also a definite plus. However, significant downsides include inconsistent cleanliness, a small and often crowded beach, repetitive and sometimes poor food quality, and critically, problematic and potentially dangerous elevators. For travelers seeking a truly budget-friendly option and willing to overlook some common "all-inclusive" shortcomings and the serious elevator issue, it might suffice. However, those prioritizing modern facilities, high cleanliness standards, diverse dining, or seamless safety should consider other options. The stark contrast in reviews suggests that personal experience can vary wildly.
Really bad experience in this hotel never will go to it ever again. The lifts stop working and are dangerous as me and my children got locked in, especially with children geting traumatised the lifts had no cameras in it nobody new we was locked for over 10 mins.no good breakfast. Rooms are not as clean as i expected it to be. I highly would not reccomend this hotel to anyone not worth it.
I didn't have high expectations considering it's a budget hotel, but we had a wonderful vacation!Room:From the moment we arrived, we received an upgrade to a room with a partial sea view. The room was very spacious, with a double bed and a single bed. Since there were two of us, we combined the beds, and there was still plenty of space. The cleanliness wasn't great, neither at arrival nor during the stay. We only allowed housekeeping in twice to change the towels and take out the trash, that's all.Restaurant:Quite small and sometimes crowded. I can't say there was nothing to eat; the food was tasty. I liked the yogurts the most. However, the coffee was extremely bad, so I drank Turkish tea. We bought hot chocolate from the market because, although the coffee machine had a hot chocolate button, it only dispensed water.Beach:Extremely small for the hotel's capacity. During the first two days, we couldn't find a spot on the beach. People reserve sunbeds, go early in the morning, leave their towels, and don't return until noon. Those who can't swim will have a problem because the water is deep right from the start. Also, in August, after 5:15 PM, there's no more sun on the beach as it goes behind the mountain. The sea water is extremely clean and clear, with no waves at all.Bar:There is a bar by the pool, with extremely friendly staff and really good cocktails. It's the first time at a 4* hotel in Turkey that we actually enjoyed the cocktails. The music is also very diverse and pleasant. The only downside: the bar closes for cleaning between 7-8 PM. We wanted to have a drink before dinner and then eat, but this was never possible because of the bar's closure during those hours.Cons:Elevator: Although there are 2 elevators, they are very slow and not designed for a hotel with 10 floors.Cleanliness: In general, the hotel wasn't extremely clean; cats would even get into the restaurant. I know that Turks love animals, but they shouldn't be allowed in the restaurant.Pros:Private beachInternet everywhere in the hotel, and it actually workedFriendly and helpful staffDecent foodSpacious rooms with a wonderful, peaceful viewAir conditioningOverall, we had a wonderful stay, we felt good, and I think we would return to this hotel
Dear,We were in your hotel last week and we are really disappointed. Your employees are very kind but food was awful. Breakfast was same every day cheese, salads and BOILED EGGS.Four types of fruit and an equal number of cakes. We didn’t see any pastries only bread. Food was good only one day KEBAB. It’s not our first time in Turkey but this kind of all inclusive service I didn’t see anywhere.Regrads
I'm happy with this hotel!I'll start with honesty. It's definitely not a 4-star and it may disappoint you at first. But if your expectations will match reality, this staying will do everything you need.Remember the price that you've got this hotel for. It's cheap af.First, the most valuable - people are nice here. And they try their best. I'm grateful to them.Second - location - it's wonderful! City views, sea views, all just stunning.Third - the food. I know it's the same every day and it's chicken or turkey. But it's made well, it's tasty, the variety of vegetables is wide, so you can eat healthy. The numbers are ok. They're not luxury and not new either. But they are clean. Everything works ok. If something's wrong, go to step one - people, personnel will do their best to help you and solve the problem.Overall the hotel is not new, and it's a bit tired. But it's bang for the buck, and people make it even nicer.I totally recommend it. If you understand what you'll get for the money.
Very noisy, loud music, rude managers. I am a neighbour who was trying to work during the day and asked them to turn the volume down. But they didn't care :(
