Monza Rent a Car Rhodes

Located conveniently close to Rhodes International Airport at Leof. Dimokratias 134, Paradisi 851 06, Greece, Monza Rent a Car offers vehicle rental services on Rhodes Island. Reviews for Monza Rent a Car present a notably mixed picture, with some customers reporting excellent experiences while others highlight significant issues, particularly regarding insurance and vehicle allocation.
The Positives: Convenience, Service, and Car Quality 👍
Several customers have lauded Monza Rent a Car for its ease of service and customer satisfaction. Key positive points include:
- Effortless Airport Service: Many appreciate the complimentary pick-up and drop-off service directly at the airport. Customers like Charlotte Rea and Chris Muki specifically mentioned being collected and dropped off by their driver, making arrival and departure hassle-free. The company's proximity to the airport is also a significant advantage.
- Friendly and Professional Staff: The staff, including drivers like Spiros (mentioned by Chris Muki), are frequently described as "super friendly," "professional," "kind," and "funny." This contributes to a positive rental experience for many.
- Smooth Rental Process: Some users, like Ovidijus Olberkis, praise the "easy and simple" process, highlighting a refreshingly "no credit cards, no fees, no headache" approach, which stands out in the car rental industry.
- Good Vehicle Condition: Reviews often mention that the vehicles are "modern," "clean," and in "amazing condition," with customers reporting "no issues with the car at all." Charlotte Rea enjoyed her "little Fiat 500," while Chris Muki noted a "modern and clean" car.
- Competitive Pricing: Ovidijus Olberkis also noted that "the prices are good," adding to the appeal for budget-conscious travelers.
Areas of Concern: Insurance, Deposits, and Vehicle Discrepancies ⚠️
Despite the positive feedback, a number of serious concerns have been raised by other customers, primarily revolving around insurance policies and vehicle allocation:
- Insurance and Deposit Practices: This is the most significant point of contention.
- Unexpected Additional Insurance Fees/Deposits: Christos Papidas reported booking a car with insurance via a third-party platform (Booking.com) but was then unexpectedly asked for a temporary €1400 deposit or an additional €120 for extra insurance upon arrival. This was described as a "fraud" by Booking.com's support, suggesting a discrepancy between online booking terms and on-site demands.
- Limited "Full Insurance" Coverage: Dima Turchyn, despite paying for "full insurance," was informed that accidental damage to a car key (due to getting wet) was not covered, resulting in a €350 charge. This indicates that "full insurance" may have significant exclusions that are not clearly communicated upfront.
- Vehicle Allocation Discrepancies: Dima Turchyn also mentioned booking a Toyota Corolla but receiving a Fiat Tipo instead, questioning if this was an "equivalent exchange" for the same money paid. This highlights potential issues with vehicle availability or transparency in substitutions.
- Car Cleanliness: While some praised cleanliness, Christos Papidas's review indirectly suggested issues with cleaning, stating "Regarding the cleaning I would let the photos speak for me."
Summary and Recommendation 🤔
Monza Rent a Car Rhodes appears to be a company with the potential for excellent service, particularly regarding convenient airport transfers, friendly staff, and well-maintained vehicles. However, prospective renters should proceed with extreme caution, especially concerning insurance and deposit policies.
It is highly advisable to:
- Thoroughly read and understand all terms and conditions regarding insurance, deposits, and coverage exclusions (e.g., for car keys) before finalizing a booking.
- Clarify any potential additional fees or deposit requirements directly with Monza Rent a Car before arrival, especially if booking through a third-party platform.
- Confirm the specific vehicle model that will be provided and understand the policy for substitutions.
- Inspect the car thoroughly upon collection, both for existing damage and cleanliness, and ensure all discrepancies are noted by the rental agent.
While some customers have had flawless experiences and would "come back," others have faced frustrating and costly surprises. Therefore, preparedness and diligent inquiry are key to a smooth rental experience with Monza Rent a Car.
Our experience was very good from start to finish. We got collected from the airport and the process of documents needed was quick.Car was older but that was my choice when booking. Car was reliable. No issues when dropping off.Would recommend and use again
Scam. Do not use this company.Firstly they was meant to carry out an authorised hold of £1500 but somehow it showed up as a transaction even though I already took out the full cover. When returning the vehicle the worker went straight to the lowers side of the door and pointed out 2 scratches as if he knew they was there already. The 2 small scratches are not continuous and there is no paint transfer it’s as if it has been keyed or done deliberately. The damage was not caused by driving and as if they came out of no where. Anyway another additional £800 was further taken from my account.Cars was dirty, Milage was high, every panel was a different shade of colour, interior was soiled, screen was damaged. Workers was rude.
Possibly the best experience renting a car I've ever had. Easy completely stress free no dodgy stuff fast and punctual airport pickup. And a great price aswell. all the staff are friendly and very helpful thanks to all the Monza team
We booked an SUV in advance, but when we arrived to pick it up, we were told there were no SUVs available. Instead, they offered us a Toyota Corolla, claiming it was “better than an SUV” – a completely absurd comparison. I spent over half an hour trying to explain that we had paid specifically for an SUV and expected to receive a similar vehicle. In the end, they said they could give us an SUV only if we purchased their car protection plan for an additional $250. This is nothing short of a scam. Unprofessional and dishonest service – avoid at all costs!
Don't use this company! Worst rental car experience I've ever had. I only wish I saw the reviews beforehand, although didn't have suspicions as purchased through easyjet website during flight booking process. So assumed due diligence was already completed by them. They use many different business brands but eventually you realise it's Monza when you get to the desk.No desk for them at the airport or support. Waited over 30 minutes whilst other rental services had clear signs and client names on display. Had to call overseas number to let them know I'm waiting. Very nonchalant. Informed me someone would eventually come with the sign of Monza. I booked expecting the brand Selecta, there is no sign for this business so would have been stranded if I didn't call.Eventually got picked up and arrived at desk nearly 1 hour after landing. The desk is in a secluded area away from the airport which makes you vulnerable from the start. Very arrogant and unhelpful staff who seemed to only be interested when dealing with locals. They did not welcome any feedback and had thr attitude of take or leave but don't complain. Even though it was pre paid already. They wanted to charge card £850 although mandatory voucher which I provided displayed a £500 charge on card. They inspected voucher, spoke amongst each other. Made calls(or pretended to) then said I would need to pay £850 and could call another overseas number to complain. I asked why I should given the documents state a different amount. No explanation just a threat to cancel booking. I was prepared to pay even though the staff members were treating us like garbage. After another query when asked for my card but no payment machine present a member who was serving a local jumped in and said he has cancelled my booking as I look like I would cause them problems and they don't think I would look after the car. I have my own thoughts on why this shocking assumption was made when I was only querying the numerous errors.I was stunned ,away from the airport in a country where I don't speak the language. After 30 minutes wait, I was dropped back to airport where I booked elsewhere paying particular attention as many companies are under there ownership.I was furious but now having returned home, I think I dodged a bullet as clearly this is a dangerous business to deal with based on all the terrible reviews.I had to post this to help warn others.
