Nikolas Beach Kallithea: A Serene Escape and Culinary Delight on Rhodes Island 🇬🇷🏖️

Nestled in Kallithea, Rhodes Island, Nikolas Beach offers a unique and highly recommended experience for those seeking tranquility, delicious food, and a touch of local charm. Far from the bustling crowds and loud music often found elsewhere, this establishment stands out as a true hidden gem, providing a calm and special atmosphere.

Discovering a Tranquil Paradise 🐠🤿

The location of Nikolas Beach is simply gorgeous. It's described as a serene cove, possibly former historic salt mining flats, now transformed into a trendy and inviting beach area. The waters are crystal clear and teeming with marine life, making it an ideal spot for snorkeling enthusiasts. Guests appreciate the lack of crowds and loud music, allowing for a truly relaxing day by the sea.

Sunbeds are available, strategically placed along the rocks, offering space and privacy between visitors. While one review mentioned free sunbeds, more recent ones indicate a price of €7 per bed (including umbrella) or €20 for two sunbeds and an umbrella, which is noted as a normal price for the island. Ladders are provided for easy entry into the inviting waters.

A Taste of Greece by the Sea 🍽️🌊

The culinary offerings at Nikolas Beach are consistently praised. Reviewers highlight the food as delicious and amazing. Specific recommendations include:

  1. The "10 plates for 2 people" option, described as fantastic.
  2. Fried calamari, noted for its excellent quality.
  3. Saganaki and fresh salads, also highly rated.

What truly sets the dining experience apart is the option to sit at tables directly in the water. This provides a unique and immersive atmosphere, where curious fish might even come to nibble at your feet, offering a delightful "free pedicure." The restaurant also provides a shaded area for dining, enhancing comfort.

Unforgettable Experiences and Warm Hospitality ✨🤝

The experience at Nikolas Beach extends beyond just a beach and a restaurant, thanks largely to the incredible hospitality of the owner, Nikolas, and his staff. They are described as very friendly, welcoming, and not pushy, even showing guests hidden gems around the property.

A particular highlight mentioned by several guests is the interactive and fun experience with the fish:

  • 🐟 Asking owner Nikolas for some cheese for the fish. He will place feta cheese between your toes, drawing a frenzy of fish for a memorable and ticklish interaction.
  • 🍤 Little shrimps in the water providing a natural foot spa if you dine at the waterside tables.

This playful engagement with the marine environment adds a unique and charming dimension to the visit.

Practical Information & Tips

While the overall feedback is overwhelmingly positive, a few practical tips can enhance your visit:

  • It's advisable to check your receipt as one reviewer noted a minor discrepancy in pricing compared to the menu.
  • Be prepared for sunbed costs, which are in line with island standards.
  • Definitely ask the owner, Nikolas, about the feta cheese experience – it's a memorable highlight!

Nikolas Beach Kallithea offers a truly distinct and memorable experience on Rhodes Island. Whether you're looking for a peaceful day of snorkeling, a unique dining adventure with your feet in the water, or simply a tranquil spot to relax with excellent food and warm service, this hidden gem comes highly recommended. It’s a perfect choice for those seeking something a little different from the typical tourist spots.

I love this place! One of my favorite beaches in Rhodes. If you like a calm beach and snorkeling this is the place for you. No loud music, not too many people. Food was delicious. We got the “10 plates for 2 people” and everything was amazing. The tables are placed in the water which makes this restaurant very very special. We loved the atmosphere! The sunbeds are placed along the rocks which in my opinion is good because it gives you space between other people. 2 sunbeds and umbrella 20eur (which is normal price for this island). There are ladders to enter the water. Great underwater rocks and many fishes to enjoy snorkeling for hours! 100% would recommend if you’re like us and like something a little different than normal!

Didn’t eat here due to the previous reviews, however the owner seems very friendly and the location is just gorgeous. We did have a beer over looking the water. Loved sitting on the beds on the rocks. Worth paying for beds if you can.

A hidden gem just above Faliraki. 💎The cove appears to be historic salt mining flats that is now a trendy beach area with free sunbeds. The waters are crystal clear with an abundance of snorkelling spots. 🤿The bar serves great drinks and you have the option of sitting in the waters which means the fish nibble your feet 🐟BIG SUPRISE: the owner Nicolas will put some feta cheese between you toes and send the fish into a frenzy around your feet 🤣

For beach and restaurant:Beach: pretty nice and not so crowded as other beaches, sunbed 7€ per bed (umbrella included)Restaurant: Very friendly people, Saganaki was great and the salad too. Also we had some fruits for free. It is possible to sit in the ocean under a roof in the shadow. There are also a lot of fish which are very curious!BUT, always check your receipt! We paid a few euros more than the menu says.Recommend: ask the owner Nikolas for some cheese for the fish. He will put it on your feet and than a lot of fish will come and tickle your feet! :D

Nikolas Taverna was an amazing experience. I need to admit that I've been a little bit scared to rest here because of the negative ratings here on google but my experience was a completely different one and I would always come back. The staff was really welcoming, they even showed us some hidden gems on their property. We've had a rest here for over two hours and we've never had the feeling that they've wanted us to leave or order more. We ate fried calamari and they we're really good! If you sit on the tables in the water there even are little shrimps giving you a free pedicure 😂I would totally recommend this place!
