PAYMENT
The Olympic Palace Resort Hotel & Convention Center, located on Rhodes Island, Greece, presents itself as an imposing and attractive destination, particularly stunning when lit up in the evening. It serves as a hotel, resort, convention center, lodging, spa, and event venue, offering a wide range of facilities for its guests.
⭐ General Impressions & Star Rating
While often perceived as a 5-star establishment, some guests feel the hotel aligns more closely with a strong 4-star experience. The overall sentiment is positive, with many describing it as an "awesome" and "very good hotel" that is "very well kept."
👥 Staff & Service
A consistent highlight across reviews is the hotel's staff. Guests commend them for being friendly, helpful, and excellent, particularly the pool and bar staff who are noted for their attentiveness.
🍽️ Dining Experience
- Restaurants: The hotel boasts bespoke internal restaurants serving a variety of lovely dishes. The three specialty restaurants are praised, with the Mexican restaurant receiving particular acclaim for its outstanding service, and the pizza/pasta bar for its brilliant food, including huge pizzas.
- Buffet: The main buffet offers a wide choice, ensuring "something for everyone," even if theme nights aren't to every guest's taste. However, a common point for improvement is the temperature of the hot food at breakfast, which guests noted was often lukewarm and not up to 5-star standards.
- All-Inclusive: For all-inclusive guests, some felt the options were limited, particularly concerning drinks, with only one beer choice available, leading to a sense of being a "hindrance" rather than having full choice.
🏊♀️ Pools & Spa
The hotel's pools are consistently praised for being lovely, clean, and safe. They are well-maintained, with heated options available even late in the season (e.g., end of October). There are plenty of sun loungers with fixed parasols, though guests are advised to choose wisely to manage sun or shade throughout the day. A notable positive is the effective management of sun loungers, with staff actively preventing early morning reserving.
The Spa is highlighted as one of the best by guests, offering a relaxing and high-quality experience.
🛌 Rooms & Accommodation
Rooms are described as adequate, but some reviews indicate they are fairly basic and not fully reflective of a 5-star standard. Specific concerns raised include:
- Functionality: Hairdryers not working and fridges not being cold.
- Views: "Mountain View" balconies are often criticized for looking directly at trees or a large hill, considered an undesirable aspect for a 5-star establishment.
- Housekeeping: While beds were made and floors mopped, some guests felt that bathrooms were not thoroughly cleaned daily.
- Amenities: Minor issues like insufficient milk sachets for tea/coffee and inconsistent provision of shampoo/conditioner were noted.
🎉 Entertainment & Activities
The hotel offers various activities, including crazy golf and basketball, which are popular with younger guests. The roof bar provides good entertainment and a pleasant evening breeze.
Evening entertainment receives mixed reviews; while some acts like "The Drifters" and the Wednesday evening Greek dancing were highly enjoyable and memorable, other performances were considered average and could be improved. Some guests felt the entertainment was generally "lacking."
📍 Location & Accessibility
Olympic Palace Resort Hotel & Convention Center benefits from a convenient location. It's approximately 10 euros by taxi to Rhodes Town, making excursions easy. A bus stop is conveniently located right outside the hotel, and there is a private section of the beach, which is also well-regarded by guests.
💡 Areas for Improvement
- Room Quality: Upgrading room amenities and ensuring consistent functionality of appliances like hairdryers and fridges. Addressing the quality of "Mountain View" rooms.
- Housekeeping Depth: Ensuring more thorough daily cleaning of all room areas, especially bathrooms.
- All-Inclusive Offering: Expanding drink choices and enhancing the overall value proposition for all-inclusive packages.
- Pool Hours: Extending pool opening hours beyond 6 PM to allow for evening dips, especially after day trips.
- Breakfast Buffet: Ensuring hot food items are served hot.
- Entertainment Variety: While some acts excel, a more consistent high-quality entertainment program is desired.
✅ Recommendation
Despite some minor negatives, guests generally recommend the Olympic Palace Resort Hotel & Convention Center. It's considered well worth a visit for its impressive appearance, friendly staff, excellent pools, and good dining options. However, those seeking a truly immersive 5-star luxury experience might find certain aspects fall short, especially regarding room quality and all-inclusive breadth. Some visitors might consider a half-board option over all-inclusive for future stays to mitigate perceived limitations.
Awesome hotel looks so imposing especially when lit up in the evening. Very clean good friendly staff. Bespoke internal restaurants are serving some lovely dishes. The Pizzas are huge. Pool is clean and safe plenty of Sun loungers with fixed parasols so make sure you pick wisely with where the sun travels through out the day or you maybe in the sun or in the shade unless u move your lounger. Rooms are adequate but try to avoid the rear hotel rooms or you will be looking at trees and a side of a large hill. Roof bar does good entertainment and there’s a good breeze in the evening. Explore outside the hotel building and you will find plenty of extra private seating and dining locationsDefo worth a visit and it’s only about 10 euros by taxi to Rhodes Town
We stayed at the end of October and I must say everything was still available and it is a very good hotel. The pools are heated and the pool and bar staff are very helpful and friendly. The Spa is one of the best I have been in. The girls loved the crazy golf, basketball and other activities.
We’re just finishing our last few days off here. Overall it’s been lovely but I wouldn’t say this is a 5 star hotel, more like a 4!Few things to improve would be the rooms, hairdryers don’t work, fridge isn’t cold at all, Mountain View balcony is awful! No 5 star should have a Mountain View for half the guests! Rooms weren’t actually cleaned just beds make and floor mopped, our bathroom hasn’t been cleaned since we got here!Drinks around the pool I feel should open earlier than 10:30, this is very late to say the pool opens at 9:30!Evening entertainment is ok but could be improved! The drifters were amazing on Saturday, but the rest was average! We feel like all inclusive options weren’t good just one option for beer and that’s it.. no choice really.. we feel like being all inclusive you should be able to have anything you want but we’ve felt more of a hindrance!Pools are lovely and clean! Bus stop right outside the hotel & private part to the beach is lovely!Overall wouldn’t return for an all inclusive holiday but maybe half board
Nice hotel, good facilities at the hotel, but the rooms are fairly basic. Definitely not 5 star, more a good 4 star. Hotel staff were excellent. Good choice for breakfast, but the hot food should be hot! Lukewarm buffet is not up to a 5 star standard.
We spent weeks before our visit watching videos and reading reviews but arriving at the hotel late at night seeing it all lit up was breathtaking ( others on our coach would agree) The hotel is very well kept, the food had so much choice, I wasn't a fan of the theme night on the buffet but there was something for everyone. The three restaurants were brilliant the service in the Mexican was outstanding and the pizza pasta bar food was brilliant. My daughter absolutely loved Weds evening Greek dancing but the other entertainment was lacking in my opinion. There was no reserving sun loungers the guys there in the morning were hot on that which was brilliant but you could usually get a lounger anyway.I think the only thing I would have liked is the pool to be open a bit later, it closed at 6pm so if you had been on a day trip you had no chance for a dip when the weather had cooled down.Better entertainment more along the lines of Wednesday night folk dancers. Also maybe a few more milk sachets in your room as plenty of tea/coffee but only two milk. Also the shampoo and conditioner some days you got all body wash and nothing else.Minor negatives really but would absolutely recommend to others.
