Fabulous old town with lots of narrow streets filled with gorgeous shops … but be warned it’s more expensive on the outskirts near the port the further you go in the more genuine locals you find and the betterMy advice would be to go deep into the old town to find the genuine shop owners who are not trying to rip you off - where prices are more realistic and the service is more personal.A beautiful town full of history, with a vibrant atmosphere it’s a definite must go place on your visit to Rhodes.Easily accessible; a lot of walking but it’s flat and there are plenty of places to stop and rest.
We arrived in Rhodes the first of March via Celebrity Infinity. It was still off season and a Holiday on our visit but Rhodes was absolutely incredible. We absolutely loved walking around the old Medieval town.We walked down to the windmills and then came in around the Grand Palace walking around thru the moats. The magnitude of the walls and Palace was incredible to see. We walked pondering how they constructed something of this magnitude in the 7th century. We then spent time exploring the streets of cobble stone. Getting lost in the ancient walls and thinking of those times of the past.Things were very slow and not crowded at all. Lots of business's were closed, but we still throughly enjoyed our day here.
We visited Rhodes town whilst staying in Ixia such a beautiful place Old town full of history and tavernas new town full of modern bars and shops. Definitely a must visit when in Rhodes. We was introduced to a local guide by our friend Alana to a local guide Δαβίδ (David in english) he was a font of knowledge and made our visit all the more special however he did fail to warn us about buying a large beer, large is actually 2 litres in a boot shaped glass🤦🏻♂️ We wandered around for a few hours stopping for drinks at various bars and ate at Aktion lovely food.
Fantastic place . Couldn’t have picked a worst day as two huge cruise ships arrived . The place was rammed and couldn’t get in any restaurants but hey ho was worth a visit
Wonderful view of the port, in nice weather you can see the Turkish coast line
