Areas for Consideration 🤏
While the resort largely exceeds expectations, a few points were consistently mentioned by guests for potential improvement:
- Elevator System: This was the most frequent minor complaint. Elevators are described as "very slow," "without ventilation," and often require changing elevators, leading to "long waits," especially during peak hours. Some guests experienced significant delays, almost missing transport due to full elevators. ⏳
- Sea Conditions: One reviewer noted that the sea on this side of the island is "not calm and not fun to swim in." 🌊
- Pool Water Temperature: During a mid-September stay, a guest found that "none of the pools were heated," and the water was "too cold for swimming" for their taste. 🥶
- Hotel's Perceived Star Rating & Condition: While generally high standard, the hotel "shows some signs of use." One guest felt it had the "feel of a 4 star" rather than a true 5-star experience, despite its official rating.
- Dining Repetition: While the quality of meals was good, some noted that meal selections "repeated themselves" during their stay. One individual also found breakfast, though plentiful, "a little lacking in taste."
- Room Consistency: While most rooms were highly praised, one review mentioned that friends were "a little disappointed with their suite."
Overall Recommendation
The Sheraton Rhodes Resort offers a delightful and highly recommended experience, particularly shining in its staff's dedication and its comprehensive facilities. Despite minor inconveniences like elevator wait times, guests consistently express satisfaction and a strong desire to return, making it a top choice for a memorable stay on Rhodes Island.
Two Weeks of True Hospitality – A Solo Experience I’ll Never ForgetI spent two weeks at the Sheraton Hotel Rhodes, traveling alone – and I can honestly say I’ve rarely felt so genuinely welcomed and cared for.The overall level of service was outstanding. Every single staff member I encountered was kind, attentive, and professional. It’s the kind of atmosphere that makes you feel truly seen, even as a solo guest. Two people, in particular, made a lasting impression:Dimitris, a waiter at the buffet restaurant, was exceptional. His warmth, attention to detail, and intuitive sense for guest comfort made every meal feel personal and relaxed. And Alexandra, who greeted guests at the restaurant entrance, brought a calm elegance and heartfelt hospitality that stood out every single day. Her smile and presence set the tone for the entire dining experience. After two weeks, I left not only recharged, but deeply grateful. This wasn’t just a holiday – it was a reminder of what true service and human connection feel like.Highly recommended – especially for solo travelers looking for more than just a place to stay.
The hotel is in need of a bit of TLC but it's great value anyway. Highly recommended.+: Decent breakfast with a large buffet, omelette station, etc. No a-la-carte dishes.+: Four pools (incl. one indoor) and a direct beach access+: Easy parking-: Average on-site restaurant with a really slow service. Spent two hours for a starter and a main even though the place was almost empty.-: No hot tub/sauna/ at the spa-: A few things were closed but that's normal for the beginning of the season
Seen some negative reviews for Sheraton and not really to sure why. We stayed here in September last year for 7 nights and had the best time so much we are heading back this year. The staff were wonderful and attentive to our needs. The room was always clean and tidy daily and the breakfast selection was varied for all. Yes the elevators are a little slow and the pools are a tad chilly but those a minor things in the grand scheme of it all. If you’ve been roaming and had the sun beating down on you, that cold pool suddenly seems desirable!. The complex itself is quite spectacular to look at of an evening and the private beach is what sold it for us. The domestic team Katrina and her colleague with the blonde hair were nothing short of fantastic and always made a point to say hello when they saw us. There was never any sun lounger hogging and plenty available at all times of the day. The location is great, a short drive to the town and harbour for anyone wanting a boat trip. We used yellow submarine and got a discount online. A great selection of restaurants local to Sheraton if you are wanting to try local cuisine. If you walk towards the town there is a popular Indian restaurant as well. My only criticism is that we didn’t understand the traffic light system and crossing the roads! Otherwise we had the best time ever and really enjoyed Sheraton. Looking forward to our trip next week see you then 😃
Where My Chess Journey and Bonvoy Story BeganIn April 2019, I stayed at Sheraton Rhodes Resort while competing in the ACO World Amateur Chess Championship (U2000). It was a deeply meaningful week: I earned the Vice World Champion title, my first-ever podium finish in an international chess tournament. But more than the result, what stayed with me was the place itself. Sheraton Rhodes wasn’t just accommodation — it became a part of that turning point. My room overlooked the Aegean Sea, offering peaceful moments between games. The tournament hall was elegant and well-appointed. I remember walking through the sunlit lounges and thinking: this is the kind of calm that every focused mind deserves. The ambiance blended leisure and focus in perfect proportion. Whether it was the poolside tranquility, the evening light across the balcony, or the subtle grace of the staff, the whole stay left an emotional imprint.Interestingly, I wasn’t even a Bonvoy member at the time. But something about this experience — the quiet elegance, the clarity, the way I felt at ease — lingered long after I left. That feeling eventually led me to join Marriott Bonvoy. Looking back now, as a Titanium member, I realise: this was where the journey quietly began.Thank you, Sheraton Rhodes, for creating a memory that endures. Six years later, it still feels like yesterday. I hope to return one day — as a guest, and as a storyteller.
So disappointing. Not up to 5 stars at all. The room was old-fashioned with traces of wear and dirt everywhere. I paid extra for at least a sea view because otherwise it was two stars at best. The food at the buffet and in the restaurants is not good and not varied at all. The pools are nice but it's hard to enjoy them with the daily entertainment that makes you get out of the water if you don't want to get shot in the face with a ball. The reception was also catastrophic, with problems between the hotel and the agency, which didn't give each other the right information and forced us to pay €60 per meal out of our own pocket for a disgusting buffet. You have to wait a very long time for the elevators. The only positive point is that some of the staff were friendly. I was happy to leave this hotel with my family at the end of the week.
