Stafilia Beach Hotel

Located on the picturesque Rhodes Island in Kiotari, Greece, the Stafilia Beach Hotel presents a complex picture for potential guests. While some visitors praise its idyllic beachfront setting and relaxing atmosphere, more recent feedback highlights significant concerns regarding amenities, food quality, and overall value. This hotel, categorized as a hotel/lodging/point of interest, appears to cater primarily to those seeking a quiet escape, but travelers should be aware of its specific limitations.
The Good: Location & Tranquility šļø
- Direct Beach Access: A standout feature is the hotel's prime location, with the sea just steps away from guest rooms. This offers unparalleled convenience for beach lovers, providing a true "beach holiday" experience.
- Quiet & Relaxing Environment: Many guests appreciate the tranquil outside area and the small, pleasant pool. For those looking to "recharge batteries" and "take it easy," the quiet ambiance and direct access to the pebbled beach (which some prefer to avoid sticky sand) are definite positives.
- Friendly Staff (Historically): Older reviews often commend the staff and owners for their politeness and service, with some even describing it as "4-5 star service" for a 3-star hotel.
- Proximity to Attractions: The hotel is conveniently located a 5-minute drive from the village of Lardos and 15-20 minutes from the historic town of Lindos, making it a good base for exploring the area if you have a car.
Areas for Improvement: Key Concerns š
Several recurring issues, particularly from recent guests, warrant careful consideration:
Food Quality & Dining Experience š½ļø
This is arguably the most consistent and severe criticism. Guests frequently describe the food as "swimming in oil," "tasteless," and "mushy." Choices are reported as limited, poorly prepared, and often not replenished adequately during serving times, leading to long queues and disappointment. The presence of flies and "sick-looking cats" near the dining areas has also been noted as off-putting.
Room Condition & Hidden Costs š°
Rooms are described as "basic" and "in need of upgrades," often not matching online photos. A major point of frustration is the additional, unadvertised charge for air conditioning (approximately 8 EUR per day), which is often discovered only upon arrival. Given Rhodes' hot climate, AC is considered essential by most, making this an unwelcome surprise.
Connectivity & Amenities š¶
Guests report "poor to no internet connection," which is a significant drawback in today's digital age. Furthermore, outside the hotel grounds, there is reportedly "nothing in the area" within walking distance for excursions or entertainment.
Suitability for Families with Young Children š¶
The hotel is "not recommended for anyone with small kids" due to the rocky and steep beach access, and a very "tiny swimming pool for kids." A particularly disheartening anecdote includes an employee refusing a slice of cheese for a 3-year-old's bread when no suitable dinner options were available, indicating a lack of flexibility or kid-friendly provision.
Cleanliness Consistency š§¹
While some initial cleanliness was noted, one guest experienced a decline in room cleaning quality towards the end of their stay.
Conclusion: Know Before You Go
Stafilia Beach Hotel seems best suited for independent travelers or couples primarily seeking a quiet, beachfront retreat, who are prepared to handle their own transportation for excursions and are not overly reliant on hotel dining or strong internet connectivity. The direct beach access and tranquil setting are undeniable strengths. However, families with young children, those expecting modern amenities, or guests prioritizing high-quality and varied food options should likely explore other accommodations to avoid disappointment. The significant shift in recent feedback regarding food and amenities suggests a potential decline in guest experience compared to earlier, more positive reviews.
Was really disappointed with this hotel. The only nice think about this hotel is the quiet outside area with small pool and beach.Would not recommend this place to anyone with small kids. There might be a tiny swimming pool for kids by the hotel but beach and rocky steep access to the sea is not for small kids. The food is usually soaked in oil and without taste. When my 3year old didn't want to eat any of the dinner and I asked one of the employees for a slice of cheese for a bread the answer was NO and he just walked away.Room was basic. Seemed to be cleaned the first days but got worst towards to the end of our stay.If you expect to take some trips in walking distance there is nothing in the area
Just donāt book this place. The upside: location. The sea is 1 min away from your door and that was convenient as we wanted a real beach holiday. The staff was nice. But these donāt save this place, hereās why:1) rooms - they are far from the photos shown online. Clean but in need of upgrades2) AC: you have to pay for it extra, which you find out on your arrival. They walk you to your room, which is nice and COOL. (As they cooled it down for you.) you think, ok this is ok without AC. Then you suffer through your first night. Hot. No air. No ventilation. MOSQUITOS. So you buy the AC the 2nd day.Dear Hotel: just build it in the price. 8eur per day is not that awful if you book a 7-day stay - who doesnāt need AC if itās 36day/26night deegrees?! This way itās just frustrating.3) internet: poor to no internet connection, just disappointing in 2023.4) I saved āthe bestā for last: food. Inedible: swimming in oil, tastless, mushy stuff with no description to know what you pick. Half board - half of the half of the half - few choices poorly prepared.+1) flys everywhere and a few sick-looking cats near the bar and restaurant. Yummy.
just came back from my 3rd stay at Stafilia Beach - as always it was wonderfully relaxing. Perfect location right at the beach, lovely pool, amazing staff who really know their guests and good food all day. The whole complex is always immaculate and pretty. If you want to recharge your batteries and just take it easy this is the place to go.
Stafilia Beach Hotel is a 3 star hotel that in our opinion has a 4-5 star service!Location is great for people who want to be in Londonās area without paying the price tag. A 5 minute drive from the village of Lardos and a 15-20 minute drive to Lindos! The room we stayed was exceptional, clean, spacious (we are a family of four so we needed a room with extra space for luggage and kids to run around without messing up the room). The play area is just enough for the kids to be occupied while parents having their coffee.Pool is a great size, and the beach is super nice!! I hate sticky sand so the pebbles was just ideal!!Stuff was very polite and owners made everything possible to enjoy our short stay! We highly recommend it!!!
The beach behind the hotel is absolutely wonderful. Spacy and clean rooms. Problematic is the food - long queues for drinks during breakfast, the dinner buffet is not supplied propperly (at the beginning there are 2 kinds of meat, often the better one is gone in the middle of serving time). Still, the location is so beautiful that we might come back, hoping for a new kitchen personnel...
