⚠️ Points to Consider Before Booking
- Hotel Age & Condition: Some guests found the hotel to be "very old" or that their family room was "a little outdated," leading them to question its 4-star rating. Specific maintenance issues mentioned included loose tiles in the pool area and the children's pool requiring "a lick of paint."
- Undisclosed Policies & Extra Costs: This was a significant area of dissatisfaction for a few guests, who felt important information was not communicated upfront or on the website:
- The requirement to pay €5 for a sunbed at the hotel's beach.
- The unexpected need to pay for tap water during dinner, especially for guests on a half-board package.
- Lack of prior notification about the existence of adults-only pools, which limited family access to some of the preferred swimming areas.
- Not being informed that the hotel premises are separated into two distinct areas, with one section located across the street.
- Sunbed Management: A recurring complaint was the apparent lack of supervision regarding sunbed use. Guests observed that some individuals reserved sunbeds all day with minimal actual use, leading to a shortage for others and becoming "a big issue."

⭐ Overall Impression
Sun Beach Resort on Rhodes Island offers a compelling holiday experience, largely driven by its outstanding staff and a plethora of activities suitable for the entire family. However, prospective guests should be mindful of the reported age of some facilities and the potential for additional costs for services like beach sunbeds and even tap water at dinner, which some guests found surprising. If these considerations are understood and acceptable, the resort provides a welcoming and engaging environment for a Greek island getaway.
Overall good experience. Friendly staff and helpful. Special mention to the ones in reception and restaurants.food is a bit repetitive. Amazing housekeeping staff and good location. Rooms are a bit smaller but still okayish. Please note that there are lots of cats in that place
We were put here after our flights were cancelled and we needed a place to stay overnight. We usually don't stay in hotels like this one but I have to say we were pleasantly surprised. When we arrived at around 06:00, there was only one man working in the reception, so check in took a bit longer, but still swift. The lobby is fresh, and you can tell it is fresh after renovations. We stayed in room 513, which had direct views on the planes landing into Rhodes Airport, which we found very nice, and we took some nice photos. The hotel is conviniently located near the airport, however we can't say much, as we were at the hotel for only a few hours so didn't explore the surrounding areas. The room despite being old was visibly cleaned, and very well maintained, my guess is that the rooms will be renovated soon. A highlight of the hotel is the staff, which were always trying their best to satistfy each guest, when considering there was about 150 people from cancelled flights that stayed a single night there, is not the easiest task. The reception staff were helpful, and so was guest relations. From what we could see, they were trying their best to help and answer any questions the guests had, which is a big positive. The animation team was also visibly entertaining the children, and with very little supplies, they made sure the kids had fun. The market in the other part of the resort, was very affordable aswell. There are many good things about the hotel, however the reason it doesn't get 5 stars from me, is:- During the time we were there, we spotted many cockroaches on the hotel grounds, which isn't something we've noticed in any hotel in Rhodes, with coming here for many years.- The food selection in the main restaurant was okay, however we noticed many flies attracted to the food, which put off our appetite quite a bit. The desserts in the main restaurant were great though.- The rooms were quite outdated, however clean which is a bonus, but the rooms don't look like they've been renovated recently.- The lifts were very small and we carried lots of luggage, and barely fit in the lift. They are also quite old and visibly showing signs of age.I think this hotel is a good hotel right now, but things can be improved so it's great. I would love to see the rooms be renovated in the future as I see this hotel being 5*. I would say that the rooms and food are main things need to be updated, and also the fly and cockroach problems.
Overall, we were very pleased with our stay at Sun Beach Resort. The experience was positive and relaxing, with a few areas that could be improved to elevate the overall standard.Highlights:The lobby area is fresh, modern, and offers stunning views over the sea – a great first impression. Service in the lobby was excellent. We stayed in apartments with balconies overlooking the sea, which was absolutely fantastic. The rooms are of an older standard, but clean and well maintained with good housekeeping. The location is ideal, about 7 km from Rhodes town and around 6–7 km from the airport. There are beautiful walks to nearby villages with shops and restaurants. The restaurants offered well-prepared buffet-style meals. The selection was okay – not outstanding – but we didn’t get tired of the food during our week. It was also very helpful that we could switch our half-board option from breakfast and dinner to lunch and dinner, as we usually skip breakfast.Areas for improvement:We had planned to do some exercise and saw a beach volleyball court listed in the description, but unfortunately, it was not available during our stay – which was disappointing. The gym experience was below expectations. A ping pong table had been placed in the workout area, attracting kids and teenagers, making it hard to focus while training. The gym equipment was outdated and lacked basic free weights and mats. The space felt cramped, although the treadmills and bikes were in good condition. No cleaning spray for equipment was available, which affected the sense of hygiene.Other amenities:The pool area with the infinity pool was very fresh and calm, and the poolside bar added to the relaxing atmosphere.Final impression:This is a very good hotel with friendly service and a great location. With some attention to detail and updates to the gym and activity facilities, it could become an outstanding destination. And if you are disturbed by noise, be aware that inbound flights are flying above the Complex
Had the pleasure to meet Kiki today serving cocktails at the bar by the pool.Such a lovely girl, very professional and great drinks!Couldn’t recommend more!!!
Wow, a great hotel for the whole family, children and adults. The breakfast was quite okay. Water aerobics every morning was the best way to start the day by the beautiful pool. There were plenty of activities. The kids had the opportunity to go into a playroom to draw and decorate stones. In the evenings, it was great to have entertainment on the stage with acrobatics and dancing, where the audience got involved in the show. Overall, it was a great hotel for the whole family. We opted for breakfast only, not all-inclusive.
