Zeus cars

Located at Al. Diakou 5, Rodos 851 00, Greece, Zeus Cars is a car and scooter rental establishment that elicits a range of experiences from its customers. While consistently praised for its competitive pricing, the service quality appears to be a significant point of divergence among renters.
👍 The Positives: Great Value & Vehicle Condition
- Budget-Friendly Prices: Many users highlight Zeus Cars as offering some of the best rental prices in Rhodes. Customers have reported renting vehicles, including a Cabrio Fiat 500, for as low as 40-50 euros, making it an attractive option for those on a budget.
- Well-Maintained Vehicles: The vehicles, whether scooters or cars, are generally described as being in good repair, excellent condition, and very clean. This ensures a comfortable and reliable ride for exploring the island.
- No Unfair Damage Charges: One reviewer specifically noted that Zeus Cars did not attempt to charge for any pre-existing damages, a positive point in an industry where such practices can sometimes occur.
- Convenient Airport Service: A standout positive experience included an airport drop-off service upon returning the vehicle, demonstrating a willingness to go the extra mile for some customers.
👎 The Negatives: Communication & Service Inconsistencies
Conversely, a recurring theme among negative reviews points to issues with communication, transparency, and customer service.
Unclear Rental Terms 🗣️
A significant point of frustration for some customers is the lack of clarity regarding rental duration. Several users reported that rentals are not always for a full 24-hour period, despite common expectations for rental agreements. This often leads to unexpected demands for early returns, sometimes with minimal or no prior explanation. For example, one customer was told to return a car after 11 hours when they expected 24 hours, and another faced a similar situation where they picked up a car in the afternoon but were expected to return it by the end of the same day.
Vague Fuel Policy ⛽
The fuel policy at Zeus Cars appears to be inconsistent. Unlike standard "full-to-full" policies, some customers experienced an unclear system where the owner would visually assess the fuel level, leading to arbitrary charges. One customer felt they were overcharged by 10 euros for fuel compared to what was actually needed to bring it to the original level.
Inconsistent Customer Service 😠🤝
While some reviewers found the owner "very helpful and friendly" and "easy to communicate with," others described the service as "impolite," "unprofessional," and even "rude" and "untrustworthy." These conflicting reports suggest a highly variable customer experience, where interaction quality can significantly impact overall satisfaction. Issues mentioned include a perceived unwillingness to spend time explaining rules and an abrupt communication style.
Lack of Vehicle Choice (Reported)
One review mentioned being promised a choice of cars but then being given an older vehicle without any discussion, highlighting a potential discrepancy between promises and delivery.
Overall Recommendation
Zeus Cars presents an opportunity for very affordable vehicle rentals in Rhodes. However, potential renters should be prepared for a potentially mixed service experience. To ensure a smooth rental, it is highly advisable to clarify all terms and conditions upfront, especially regarding rental duration (confirm if it's a 24-hour rental or specific hours) and the fuel policy, before committing to a booking. While the vehicles themselves are generally in good condition and prices are excellent, being proactive about understanding the rental agreement can help avoid frustrations experienced by previous customers.
I rented a scooter from Zeus Cars, for my time in Rhodes Town (new & old). Bike was in good repair and I was provided a helmet (which are optional to wear). The scooter was a good call to explore the towns and surrounding area. I highly recommend it. I then rented a wee convertible car for the rest of my trip down to Lindos. I drove down from Rhodes town to Lindos, which was a beautiful and easy drive. Having the car made the trip very enjoyable and I was able to explore some of the mountain villages in the surrounding area. Again highly recommend it. The guy at Zeus was very helpful and friendly, and prices were very reasonable. In fact when returning the car, I drove up from Lindos to Rhodes Town, and they drove me to airport. Fantastic. I'll definitely use them again next year! Many thanks for a great experience.
To sum it up: reasonable prices but impolite service. You can get a car for 40-50 €. However, the service is totally unprofessional which pretty much ruins the whole experience. The guy wants to spend the least possible amount of time when he gives you a vehicle. That means, that he provides no explanation for the rules e.g. when you should return the vehicle, how the insurance works, how to handle gas. In my case i had two main issues:1. He failed to inform me that it is not a 24h rent. Therefore he expected the vehicle to be returned by the end of the day. The way he chose to inform me about this, was to call me on my cellphone, obviously upset and demand to know "when i was planning on returning the car". At that time i was about an hour drive away so i wasn't able to return before his closing time. That being said, he then demanded that the vehicle be returned at 7am the next day.2. He doesn't have a clear policy on gas. Most rental places have an easy solution. You get the car full and you return it full. He just takes a quick look at the gas level. As a result, I had to pay an extra 15€ an amount he pulled out of thin air. (I actually kept track of the gas and I would only need to pay about 5€ to bring it to the same gas level)Bonus information: I thought the communication was bad and i am a native. I can only imagine it gets worse for tourists. The way he handles the cars (without 24h rental) practically means he gets paid double for some days. e.g. i picked up the car around 14:00 right after someone returned it and still paid for the full day.I will close with some positives. The car i got was in excellent condition and very clean. Also he didn't make any attempts to charge me for any damages that were already there, which is super common in Greece. Its just that these "positives" should be a given for any self respecting company.
Best rental price in RhodesCabrio Fiat 500 we rented for only 40 euros
Very nice old guy cheap rentals easy guy to communicate with I don't no how some people have bad things to say about him
This is the worst experience I had when traveling in Greece. Most of people I met were friendly and helpful, but not this owner. I was looking for a car to rent, and passed by this store. I forgot to read the reviews first, otherwise I won’t even try it.The price was reasonable, but the service was bad. Before I paid, the old man promised me the cars on the list I can choose. After the day after I paid the upfront 10€, I went to get the keys and paid the rest. He brought an old car which’s has run 17,500 km already without asking me. NO DISCUSSION ON THIS.I paid for 24 hours, but he asked me to return after 11 hours. He said there is another couple (another victims) is going to rent at night. So I paid 40€ from 9:30am - 20:00. No even 11 hours. Again, NO DISCUSSION.Rude, unpleasant and not trustworthy experience, I rather give 0 star on this than 1 star.PLEASE read all the references before you make the decision.
