Lindos was first settled 3,000 years BC. In the 6th century, BC, the time of King Kleoboulosa became a maritime power in the Aegean Sea and had many colonies. Today Lindos with its sparkling white houses, castles from the Crusades, the ancient Acropolis is a magnet for tourists.The traditional houses that were built in the period from 15 to 18 by the wealthy captains are very interesting. Some mixed Byzantine and Arabic style.
I realize that my opinion will remain out of the ordinary, but I did not particularly enjoy the visit to Lindos. I probably got the date wrong (August), but the small town was a hive of tourists. Proceeding through the alleys was difficult due to the crowds, every room/shop/square was overflowing, in the end I just wanted to escape. Lindos certainly suffers from the so-called "Taormina syndrome", that is to say that nothing remains of the original village, it is now just a big toyland for foreign visitors, who must be attracted and then dutifully stripped away. Do we want to talk, for example, about the 7 euros for parking?
