Located in Kolympia, Rhodes Island, Greece, the Golden Odyssey Hotel presents itself as a decent all-inclusive option, particularly suited for families. Reviews offer a mixed but generally positive perspective, highlighting its amenities while pointing out areas for improvement.

What Guests Loved ❤️

  • Spacious Pools & Fun Slides: The hotel boasts three large swimming pools, plus a dedicated fourth pool with exciting water slides and a small water fort, making it a hit with children and families. The pools are noted for being clean and enjoyable, and the main pool looks particularly lovely at night.
  • Dedicated & Friendly Staff: Many guests praised the helpfulness and kindness of the staff, from the reception to the restaurant and bar teams.
  • Engaging Entertainment: "Magic Mike" receives special mention for his excellent kids' entertainment, which includes magic acts, fire breathing, and a weekly Michael Jackson show with his daughters. Daily activities like darts, aqua Zumba, and ping-pong tournaments also contribute to a lively atmosphere.
  • Varied All-Inclusive Dining: The self-service restaurant offers a broad selection of food for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, ensuring variety. The pool bar serves convenient options like burgers, chips, nuggets, and ice cream during the day.
  • Comfortable & Clean Rooms: Rooms are generally described as nice and clean, with some featuring modern bathrooms. Daily cleaning services ensure fresh towels and replenished amenities.
  • Convenient Amenities: An on-site shop provides essentials, and a pharmacy is just a short walk away. The hotel also offers a free bus service to the nearby beach and Kolymbia town.
  • On-Site Spa: Guests appreciate the presence of a spa, noted as lovely by some visitors.

Areas for Consideration ⚠️

  • Pervasive Smoking: This is a frequently highlighted concern. Many guests, including families with children, found the widespread smoking (even by staff inside and behind bars, and near pools) to be unpleasant and indicative of different cultural norms compared to some other countries.
  • Food Quality & Hygiene: While varied, the food sometimes received criticism for being "too salty." Issues with exposed food attracting flies in the restaurant and food not consistently being kept hot were also mentioned.
  • Drink Quality: Some guests found the all-inclusive drinks, particularly cocktails served in plastic cups, to be watered down or lacking in taste. Branded drinks are available for an extra charge.
  • Bus Service & Hotel Transfers: One review noted an incident where guests were stranded due to incorrect bus times provided by reception, and overall advises booking airport taxis early due to potential delays.
  • Sunbed Culture: The common practice of guests reserving sunbeds with towels early in the morning persists, despite hotel signs advising against it.

Overall, Golden Odyssey Hotel is viewed as a solid choice for families looking for an all-inclusive experience on a budget, offering good facilities and entertainment, particularly for children. Prospective visitors should be aware of the prevalent smoking culture and manage expectations regarding food and drink quality based on previous guest feedback.

The hotel overall is nice and clean, the food is way too salty and people smoke everywhere which isn't nice at all. The hotel bus driver left me and my mum stranded at the beach after the receptionist gave us the wrong time. even when we waved and ran towards the van he quickly drove off and we had to walk 16 minutes to find a taxi in the heat. Pools are nice especially the slides were fun but be extra careful when here! Also if you're coming from uk you should book the taxi about 10 minutes early back to the airport as it can be delayed

My family enjoyed this place, nice apartments, good food/drinks, kind staff. One thing we didn't like that even next to(even when kids are around) you by the pool or bar, somebody can smoke, even staff, maybe it is some kind cultural thing and is ok in Greece to smoke in public even next to kids, i don't know. But in overall, good place to stay with kids.

Nice sized hotel. Reception staff were friendly. In fact all the staff were great. They have Three large pools plus a fourth with three different slides and small water fort for the little ones. Pool bar served burgers, chips or fries, nuggets or fish fingers each day and ice cream from 2pm. All self serve.Restaurant was kept clean. Big Variety of food available for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Again self service. Drinks were quite simple. Soft drinks and one type of lager on tap. House wines red, white & rose on tap also. Coffee and tea. Both in the restaurant and pool bar.Main bar opens from 5:30pm and you can get the same above plus can pay for branded drinks if preferred. Bar does offer a small selection of cocktails in the all inclusive bracket which you get in a small plastic up. Paid cocktails are served in a proper glass.Entertainment each night mostly run by Magic Mike. Lovely gent. Seems to have Saturday night off. Daily events include darts, aqua Zumba, ping pong tournaments etc.Small shop on site offers pretty much everything except medications. You’ll need to go to pharmacy about half a mile away. Not too bad of a walk.Rooms are cleaned every day. Towels and loo rolls replenished each day also.Downsides are smoking. My god everyone smokes here. Even the bar staff smoke inside, behind the bar. Different social acceptance level to the UK. Be prepared for that. Also the old towel on sun-beds at crack of dawn is actively practiced here too, even though signs tell you not to. However with the fact they have three large pools this shouldn’t be a problem if you take towels down when going for breakfast and put them out then.Overall. Not a bad place to be fair. All inclusive for the budget minded family is a really fair assessment.

There is no way this hotel should be rated 4 stars. The food was awful and full of salt.the drinks were watered down and tasted horrible. The most horrible thing is the files a 4 star hotel that can’t figure out how to keep food hot and flies out.every thing is exposed.! Won’t not stay there again. The cleaner didn’t clean every date but the room was clean when she did. The restaurant manager and some of the wait staff were friendly and nice but god help them when he leaves.Good note the massage was lovely.

Best Hotel I've stayed in Mike (the kids entertainer) was excellent the spa was lovely wich Mike's wife own he does a magic act where he breaths fire and every week there's a Michael Jackson show wich he normally does with his two daughters .the rooms were nice and clean the pools were lovely so were the slides. The restaurant was good (only problem were was the flies wich cant be helped) the beach is close by on the free bus wich takes you into the town aswell as the beach the town is called kloymbia they do chips burgers and ice-cream during the day and there is aslo a coffee machine soft drink machine the pool bar pool is about 2 metre deep (just a guess but it is deep) there a kids pool and 4 other pool including the water slide pools they aslo have juice options but at breakfast they only serve juice and coffee at the restraunt the pool looks lovely at night. We stayed in the hotel room 171 the bathroom must have only just been done because it was really modern at night it can be really windy
