Lymberia Hotel

FEATURES
PAYMENT
Lymberia Hotel, located at Asklipiou, Faliraki 851 00, Greece, presents a highly varied experience for its guests, with reviews ranging from pleasantly surprised to utterly dismayed. This lodging establishment, also considered a point of interest, appears to offer different tiers of accommodation and service quality, leading to significantly contrasting opinions.
📍 Location & Accessibility
- Lymberia Hotel boasts a convenient location, approximately a ten-minute walk to the closest beach and about 15-20 minutes to the center of Faliraki.
- Some guests noted that surrounding roads could be poor for using electric scooters.
🛏️ Accommodation: Rooms & Facilities
The quality of accommodation seems to depend heavily on the room type booked and, in some cases, the arbitrary allocation by the hotel management.
- Superior/Renovated Rooms: Guests who paid for a superior room, often described as renovated and located next to the main building, generally found them to be satisfactory.
- Standard/Off-site Rooms: Conversely, several guests reported being placed in rooms that were not within the main Lymberia Hotel but in other buildings under different names, such as Diamond Studios or Faliraki Star. These were sometimes located across the street or a short walk away. Such rooms were frequently described as:
- Outdated and dilapidated: Beds and mattresses reportedly over 30 years old, with uncomfortable iron springs.
- Poorly maintained bathrooms: Issues included disastrous toilets, showers, and widespread mold.
- Dysfunctional amenities: Frequent complaints about non-existent or poorly working Wi-Fi and ineffective air conditioning.
- Subpar cleanliness: Reports of weird translucent liquid on walls and dirty towels.
- Some rooms presented as "upgrades" were paradoxically worse, featuring poor design, useless furniture taking up space, and non-functional amenities.
🍽️ Dining & Drinks
The culinary experience at Lymberia Hotel also garners mixed feedback.
- Food Quality: Some guests found the food "good enough," appreciating the consistent availability of french fries for picky eaters and occasional freshly grilled meat or gyro sandwiches. Vegetarian options were also noted positively by one reviewer.
- Negative Food Experiences: Other reviews severely criticized the food, describing it as having "very little variety," "low quality," or even resembling "dog food," leading to stomach issues for some.
- All-Inclusive Discrepancies: Guests on "all-inclusive" packages often expressed disappointment due to unfulfilled promises.
- Limited Drinks: Advertised free alcohol drinks were reportedly limited to only beer and non-alcoholic sodas at the pool bar. Cocktails in the lobby were available at a low price.
- Lack of Snacks: Snacks at the pool bar were scarce, sometimes only boring flat toast.
- Paid Towels: Despite being "all-inclusive," some guests reported having to pay for towels.
- Breakfast options were cited as having limited hot dishes and inconsistent availability of basics like butter or chocolate for bread.
👨👩👧👦 Staff & Service
Staff interactions were another area of varied feedback.
- Positive Interactions: The waiting staff in the "restaurant" were generally described as very friendly and nice. Bar staff might need "some time to warm up" but become warmer if politely approached. The entertainment staff was also praised.
- Serious Concerns with Management: A particularly alarming review detailed a situation where guests with a confirmed reservation were allegedly "thrown across the street" to an inferior affiliated property (Diamond Studios) upon arrival. The owner, who also acts as a receptionist, allegedly refused to provide the booked room at Lymberia Hotel, denied a refund despite evidence of substandard accommodation, and even threatened legal action when accused of "qualified theft" of over 1,000 Euros by the guest.
🎶 Entertainment & Other Notes
- Music is played from approximately 9 p.m. to 11 p.m., offering a chance to dance, but guests can request the music to be turned down.
- General expectation for some guests was that they "get what you pay for," with a few being "happily surprised" given the price point. However, this sentiment is starkly contrasted by guests who felt severely shortchanged and misled.
⭐ Overall Summary & Advice
Lymberia Hotel presents a challenging picture. While some guests experienced satisfactory stays in renovated rooms with decent food and friendly service, particularly considering the price, a significant number encountered severe issues. These included being placed in vastly inferior, unadvertised accommodations, experiencing non-functional amenities (Wi-Fi, AC), poor food quality, and critical disputes with management over room allocation and refunds.
Prospective guests should exercise extreme caution. It appears that securing a "superior" or renovated room in the main building is crucial for a potentially positive experience. However, be acutely aware of the risk of being allocated to an inferior, unadvertised property, and be prepared for potential discrepancies with "all-inclusive" offerings. The contrasting experiences highlight a significant inconsistency in the hotel's service and accommodation standards.
We paid for a superior room so it was one of the renovated ones next to the main building. It’s only a ten minute walk to the closest beach and 15 minutes to the center of faliraki. The food was good enough, always french fries for picky eaters. Some nights thet put on the grill and you get freshly grilled meat or a gyro sandwich. Drinks at the poolbar are low quality but overall good. Cocktails in the lobby at a fairly low price. Staff was mostly friendly especially the waiting staff in the “restaurant”. Barstaff needs some time to warm up to you but if you’re polite to them they will quickly become warmer towards you. Don’t expect too much, you get what you pay but overall we were happily surprised.
This "hotel" must be closed. From every point of view, it should receive a rating of minus infinity. We are a family of 50 years old who travels frequently (3 months a year) and stays in both 20 Euro/night studios and 5-star hotels, so we know what any type of accommodation should offer. We booked through Agoda for 2 weeks in July 2023 (enticing price offered by Agoda as VIP Platinum customers; otherwise, it would have been much more expensive), believing it to be a decent hotel but without many expectations. We were bitterly mistaken. We arrived at the hotel at 11:00 PM, and the owner, who is also the receptionist, threw us across the street to the Diamond Studios, even though we had a reservation at Hotel Lymberia. However, I believe that within a 1 km radius, she has all sorts of accommodations that she labels as "Hotel Lymberia", such as Faliraki Star, Diamond Studio, etc.The room was clearly a studio, not a hotel room as we had reserved, and the beds and mattresses were over 30 years old. You could only feel comfortable on them if you were a fakir, sleeping on iron springs. Everything in the bathroom was a disaster (and I'm not joking) - the toilet, the shower, the Wi-Fi didn't work (and they admitted to this issue at the reception), the air conditioning was a bad joke... In the morning, we requested a room in the hotel as we had originally booked, not in Diamond Studios. That's when the "circus" began. Of course, we were denied, on the pretext that only "superior" rooms were available there. Why isn't it mentioned in the description that the "non-superior" rooms are located in other buildings under different names (in Faliraki Star, where both laborers and Lymberia's clients are accommodated) and are just dumps? Don't be under any illusion that the superior rooms meet a 3-star standard (you have a good chance of staying in the basement). As I mentioned above, we travel extensively, and Faliraki is one of our favorite destinations, where we've been coming for 10 years, two weeks each year, and we know all the hotels in Faliraki. I specify this because I know what I'm talking about when I give this "hotel" a rating of minus infinity, as I've seen that there are people who give it a rating of 4 or 5 out of 5 and have no idea what they're talking about.Coming back, of course, we were refused by the owner, and then we waited for two hours for Agoda's response as we wanted a refund because we were not accommodated at Hotel Lymberia but in other studios. Despite all the evidence we presented (photos we took in the studio), Agoda put us on hold (and I am still "waiting"). The hotel owner told me to leave if I wasn't satisfied and refused to provide a room anymore or refund our money. After two hours with no results, we had to leave and find alternative accommodation because I still had 13 days left to stay. Clearly, I found accommodation on the spot at reasonable prices, places that couldn't be compared to the night of horror spent in that room ("the place could attract the attention of beggar's solicitors," quoting from "The Gift of the Magi" by O. Henry). The conclusion is that I was stolen from by over 1,000 Euros by the owner of this hotel, even though I had extensive email correspondence with Agoda and her in order to recover my money, as I did not stay at her hotel. Not only was I refused, but I was even threatened with legal action because I accused her of qualified theft.
Absolutely terrible and not recommended, the room had weird translucent liquid on some walls, the shower walls were made of glass, mold everywhere, terrible food, unfriendly staff terrible wifi. We got a room "upgrade" which was worse than the first room we stayed in, first of all the bathroom was 100 times worse and its poorly designed, it for some reason has a kitchen, weird and useless furniture everywhere taking up space, the airconditioning did not work, the wifi was not even existant, a worse tv and the bed was made of wood and the pillow was thinner than the paper thin blanket we recieved, every towel we got was dirty, "all inclusive" but you have to pay for the towels, i still have real bad fart to this day because of the dog food they serve, overal worse hotel experience ive had so far, 20 minute walk to faliraki and the roads were so bad we almost couldnt use the 2 out of 4 electric scooters we needed for everyone that are parked infront of the hotel, definitely not recommended 0/100
A very nice hotel! Beach about 700 meters from the hotel. Food is very fine! Plus for vegetarian dishes 🤎. Very nice serving 🥰. The man of Show Time is wonderful!!!I warn you that the music is played from around 9 p.m to 11 p.m. But you can dance to good music :). You can ask to turn the music down!
Very little variety on food, low quality food, little options. They didn't have room for us do theyrented some small hotel room 5 minutes walk from the hotel so we had to walk to and from pool, cafe etc. All inclusive stuff was missing, no snacks at pool bar as advertised except some boring flat toast. No free alcohol drinks as advertised, only beer and non alcoholic sodas. Breakfast had 6 hot dishes (including eggs and fries), then some bread which had no butter or chocolate available most days. all in all bad experience, wouldn't recommend.Entertainment staff was great though
