The Marianna Palace Hotel, situated in Kolympia, Rhodes Island, offers a mixed experience for its guests. While some aspects receive notable praise, others consistently fall short, leading to varied opinions on its overall value and star rating.

What Guests Loved ❤️

  1. Exceptional Staff & Service 🌟

A consistent highlight for many guests is the hotel's staff. Reviewers frequently describe them as "great," "extremely courteous," "professional," and "helpful." This dedication to service significantly enhances the guest experience for many visitors, making them feel welcomed and attended to.

  2. Prime Location (with caveats) 📍

The hotel is located in Kolympia, an area often characterized as "fantastic" and "without disturbances," offering a peaceful environment. It provides convenient access to the more vibrant nightlife areas near Rhodes city (approximately 20 minutes by car) with frequent bus passes available. One guest positively notes its proximity to the beach, describing it as "a few steps away."

  3. Dining Experience: Quality & Variety (mostly) 🍽️

For several guests, the food is a significant positive aspect. It has been described as being of "excellent quality," with daily "new sorts of food" being offered. The all-inclusive option typically covers breakfast, lunch, and dinner, alongside drinks from the poolside bar, which is appreciated by those utilizing the package.

Points for Improvement ⚠️

  1. Room Comfort & Cleanliness: Falling Short of Expectations 🛌🧼

    • Uncomfortable Beds: A prominent complaint among guests is the discomfort of the beds, explicitly called "most uncomfortable."
    • Inconsistent Cleanliness: While general cleanliness is rated as good, some guests felt it did not meet 4-star standards. Room service was reported to sometimes only clean the floor and bathroom, neglecting beds, counters, and balconies. Concerningly, one reviewer mentioned the presence of cockroaches in the bathroom, with the reception's reaction suggesting this was not an uncommon occurrence.
  2. Dining & Drinks: Room for Consistency 🍳🍹

    • Monotonous Breakfast: Breakfast choices are frequently criticized for being the "same everyday," with very limited options (e.g., only 3-4 choices).
    • Food Variety & Freshness Concerns: Despite some praise for variety, other guests found the food "monotonous," "bland," and lacking sufficient variety. Reports included instances of old food being reused and complaints about fruits and vegetables not being fresh.
    • Subpar Drink Quality: The all-inclusive drinks are often described as "basic" or "disgusting," particularly cocktails. Guests reported having to purchase their own alcohol from local markets, even while on an all-inclusive plan. Additionally, there were complaints about an empty minibar and a lack of drinkable water in rooms.
  3. Hidden Costs & Value Perception 💸

    • Unexpected Charges: Several amenities that guests might expect to be included come with additional fees. These include Wi-Fi and a security locker, which one reviewer found "very expensive" (35€ for 10 days). Such charges can undermine the perceived value of an all-inclusive package.
    • Disputed Star Rating: A significant point of contention for multiple guests is the hotel's 4-star rating. Many reviewers argue that the hotel experience, considering the issues with cleanliness, amenities, and general offerings, feels more akin to a 3-star establishment at best.
  4. Beach Access & Condition 🏖️

Contrary to one positive report of being "a few steps from the beach," other more recent reviews strongly state that the beach is "very far," requiring a walk of "more than 15 minutes under the sun." The beach itself was also described as "full of rocks," making it less appealing for some visitors. This discrepancy suggests a highly subjective or inconsistent experience regarding beach proximity and quality.

  5. Staff Overwhelm & Professionalism Concerns 😩

While generally courteous, some staff members were perceived as "overwhelmed" due to working continuously at the bar and restaurant. Furthermore, one guest found the morning receptionist to be unprofessional, creating a feeling of bother when approached with questions.

  6. Lack of Attractions / Target Audience 👵

One reviewer characterized the hotel as being more suitable "for the elderly," noting a general "no attractions" atmosphere. This suggests that the hotel might not cater well to younger visitors or families seeking more entertainment and activities on-site.

Final Thoughts ➡️

The Marianna Palace Hotel in Rhodes offers a distinctly divided experience. While its dedicated staff, generally good food quality, and peaceful location are significant assets, these are often overshadowed by consistent issues. These include uncomfortable beds, inconsistent cleanliness (including severe pest reports), monotonous dining variety at breakfast, poor drink quality, and unexpected additional costs for basic amenities like Wi-Fi and safety deposit boxes. Many guests feel that the hotel does not fully deliver on the expectations of a 4-star designation, perceiving it more as a 3-star property.

Prospective visitors should carefully consider these varied experiences. If a quiet location and friendly staff are your top priorities, and you are prepared to manage expectations regarding room comfort, drink quality, and potential hidden costs, this hotel might suffice. However, for those anticipating a comprehensive, true 4-star all-inclusive experience with consistent high standards across all services, the Marianna Palace Hotel may lead to disappointment.

Nice hotel with great staff let down by the most uncomfortable beds, monotonous bland food with little variety and basic drinks which will leave you purchasing alcohol from a local market even though your all inclusive.Nice location and on the whole a decent 2 week stay.

Fantastic location, in an area without disturbances, a few steps from the beach and 20 minutes by car from the most famous areas for nightlife near the city of Rhodes, with frequent bus passes. The staff is extremely courteous, professional and helpful, moreover with the overnight stay and the "all inclusive" option, the consumptions of breakfast, lunch and dinner of excellent quality are included, in addition to the drinks from the poolside bar, 10/10 in my next stay in Rhodes I will do everything to come back here.

I was there with my family for 10 days. The hotel was good, but not a 4 star hotel. The best thing was the food. Every day new sorts of food... though sometimes they would put food from the last day.The breakfast was mostly the same everyday. And the dishes did one time smell. The cleanliness was good, not a 4 star hotel cleanliness though. Room service are there everyday... but all they did most of the days is cleaning the floor and the bathroom. The beds and the counters also the balkon were left behind.I must talk about the personal. They are overwehlmed. They must work on the bar and in the restaraunt non stop. I really felt sorry for them. The reseptionistin in thd morning is not professional at all. Yes she speaks more than 2 languauges but you fell when you ask her like you are bothering her!!!Wifi is not freeSecurity locker is not free (very expensive also 35€ for 10 days!)The beach is very far (walking more than 15 min under the sun of sommer!!!) And the beach is full of rocks. We were there only 2 times.

Room was ok, everything else - bad! The same breakftast all 7 days (only from 3-4 options to choose!) Fruits are not fresh, vegetables aswell. Coctails were disgusting! No drinkable water also, minibar is empty. Need to buy from the closest store...This is a 3 stars max hotel, but not a 4 star. I would not consider to stay here second time!

We visited this hotel in September 2022 and was very disappointed. A hotel for the elderly, no attractions. And the worst were the cockroaches in the bathroom, to which the reception reacted as if it was everyday life for them. The upside is the location and the food. I wouldn't even consider this hotel for my next choice.
