Nestled in the lush landscape of Rhodes Island, Seven Springs - The Aqueduct (Epta Piges) offers a unique blend of natural beauty and an intriguing historical experience. Located at 7459 25, Archangelos 851 02, Greece, this free-to-enter destination is a popular point of interest for tourists seeking a refreshing escape from the island's bustling beaches.

What to Expect at Seven Springs 💧

  • The Famous Tunnel Walk: The undeniable highlight for many visitors is the dark, narrow tunnel that leads to a picturesque lake and waterfall. This unique experience involves walking through shallow, cool water, so be prepared to get your feet wet! It's advisable to wear sandals or flip-flops that can get wet, or go barefoot. However, those who are claustrophobic should be aware, as the tunnel is quite confined.
  • Scenic Lake and Waterfall: Beyond the tunnel, a beautiful lake awaits, fed by natural springs, culminating in a charming waterfall. It's a serene spot for photography and relaxation.
  • Pleasant Walks: The area offers pleasant walks amidst the greenery, with some paths involving steep sections and rough ground.
  • On-site Cafe: A nice little cafe is available, perfect for a break and refreshments after exploring.
  • Free Entry: One of the biggest advantages is that this captivating destination is completely free to visit.

Tips for a Smooth Visit ✨

To make the most of your trip to Seven Springs, consider the following advice from fellow travelers:

  1. Footwear is Key: For the tunnel, bring water-friendly footwear or be ready to go barefoot. For the general area, good walking shoes are recommended due to steep and rough terrain.
  2. Tunnel Alternative: If you prefer not to go through the tunnel (e.g., due to claustrophobia or simply choice), there is an alternative route to reach the aqueduct and lake. As one reviewer noted, you can "go back via the main asphalt road, then turn right" and follow Google Maps.
  3. Navigation: While generally easy to find by following other walkers, signs from the main road might not always be clear. Trusting your navigation app or simply following the flow of visitors should get you there.
  4. Seasonality: Be aware that the "springs were very dry" for some visitors in October. The water levels and vibrancy of the springs and waterfall may vary depending on the season, with spring and early summer likely offering the most water.
  5. Time Allocation: Most visitors spend around an hour exploring the main attractions, though you could linger longer at the cafe or by the lake.

Overall Verdict: A Must-Visit for Nature Lovers 🌿

Seven Springs - The Aqueduct is a beautiful and unique place that offers a refreshing break from the usual beach activities in Rhodes. It's an ideal spot for families, nature enthusiasts, and anyone looking for a bit of adventure. The experience of walking through the dark aqueduct tunnel to emerge at a tranquil lake is often cited as a highlight. Despite some minor navigational quirks and potential seasonal variations in water levels, the free entry and natural charm make it well worth the drive.

Cool to walk through the tunnel - you either need to wear sandals/flip flops that you're OK with getting wet or go barefoot. Probably not for the claustrophobic! Pretty lake at the other end of the tunnel and waterfall. Nice little cafe, pleasant walk up from the road below. We spent around an hour here.

Very difficult to find the Aqueduck not going through the tunnel. If you don’t want to go through the tunnel like me, go back via the main asphalt road, then turn right. You can follow google maps to find it. Beautiful place, worth to see it!

This is a free destination and we went in October mid afternoon. A little disappointed because the springs were very dry so not too much to see in our visit. Be prepared for some steep walks.

Lovely place to visit , not fantastically signposted route from the road but just follow the other walkers and it's easy to find. You need good shoes on the way up and down as it's rough ground and a towel and sandals if you go through the tunnel on the route (you don't have to...)
